Milwaukee Road Passenger Station

(copyright wording will not appear on the purchased print)

The Southern Indiana Railroad, later purchased by the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul & Pacific Railroad (The Milwaukee Road), was the third major railroad come to Seymour. Downtown Seymour was already a booming place, so the railroad had to come through the north edge of town. So that this railroad’s passengers could change trains with the other railroads in town, it was necessary for the Milwaukee Road to locate its stations near the others in Seymour. To get the trains there, the railroad went down the middle of North O’Brien Street, and then followed beside the B&O tracks, to the stations. This was the Milwaukee Roads Seymour passenger station. It was located directly across the tracks from the B&O passenger station, where the city parking lot behind Ashcraft’s Furniture store is now, in Seymour, Indiana. It was tore down a long time ago.
