LYNX

Leyland introduced the Lynx in 1986 as a successor to the National and continue its production of single-deck city bus chassis. The Lynx's engine is horizontally mounted and located at the rear. However, the radiator is located at the front to increase the engine's cooling rate. A variety of engines and transmissions can be fitted on the Lynx. Some of the engines used include Leyland, Volvo, Cummins and Gardner. The Lynx also has a unique front which was modeled after British buses of the 1950s. Although the bus gained popularity in the British market, it didn't get much success overseas. After the Volvo takeover of Leyland on March 30, 1988, all Leyland bus models, including the Lynx, stopped production. The Lynx was replaced by the Volvo B10B.

Singapore Bus Service (SBS) acquired only one Lynx, registered as SBS3572Y in 1989. The bus was Completely Built Up in Britain with an Alexander PS body and has a length of 12m. SBS chose a Cummins L10H engine. This 10-litre, 6-cylinder diesel engine has a maximum output of 202 bhp/1850 rpm. Transmission comes from a ZF4HP500 automatic gearbox.

The Lynx had an accident which badly damaged the front. Since Lynx parts were no longer produced, it was replaced with an Alexander front from a Scania N113CRB.
