This website serves to introduce our Marion Aquatic Club, a competitive / recreational swimming club
established in 1971 by a group of parents for the purpose of providing an active, competitive swim program.
The Marion Aquatic Club is a growing Organization that develops and offers a comprehensive swimming program
ranging from recreational swimming lessons through to competitive swimming.
Experienced coaches provide
training in the techniques of all
four competitive strokes --
freestyle, backstroke,
breaststroke, and butterfly -- as
well as starts and turns. The
coaches strive to provide an
atmosphere of fun and
excitement, and at the same time
giving each swimmer the
opportunity to reach his or her
personal goals through sound
practice techniques.
We at Marion Aquatic Club believe that competitive swimming should
provide the swimmer with a wide range of valuable experiences that reach far
beyond the pool. With that in mind, we have designed our program in such a way
as to provide the athlete with the chance to not only develop training skills,
but also those lifeskills necessary to succeed outside of the sport. Through
swimming the athlete is given an opprtunity to have fun while developing
emotional and social skills, learning the values of cooperation and team work,
and building self-esteem and confidence in an environment that stresses
commitement and consistency.
There are a variety of reasons why kids may want to join
The Marion Aquatic Club. Some may dream of swimming in the Olympics, but most just want to have fun, make friends,
challenge themselves by improving their swimming skills,
getting a good workout, and socializing with fellow
swimmers.
Swimming builds confidence, discipline and time management as techniques are learned.
It is a sport that can be enjoyed forever.
Unlike other sports, nobody sits on the bench in swimming ; everyone gets to swim !
