Hello! My name is Splotches (Splotchy for short!). I am about 8 years old, and am part Maine Coon Cat. I won my name because of my grey and white spots. Since the girls did not want to give me a prosaic name, they decided Splotches would fit. And it does. I don't have a loud meow. Only a little myaa!! That is something all Maine Coons have! But, I have an extra loud purr to make up for it!!!
I adopted Danae and Mara when I first saw them. I was a stray, and was a favorite of the neighborhood. Danae and Mara had a cat named Kenya, who was a Siamese and she didn't like me. So I was Danae and Mara's outdoor play cat!! I came around every day!!! Once, they made maps of Egypt out of bread dough for school, and they painted them with different colors. When they were done, they painted my paw and tried to get my pawprint. I was so indignant!!! So, I wiggled my paw around enough so it didn't come out looking like a pawprint!! It looked like a big blob of paint. They weren't too pleased!!!
Four years ago, November 5th, 1996, their cat, Kenya (Kee-ña) had to be put to sleep, and I was finally allowed in the house!! It was fun!!!!! :‹) The girls liked having me, but missed their old kitty!!
I had to be carried around a lot when I became an indoor kitty. At Christmas, I escape under the christmas tree where they can't reach me!!! But, I do love to be petted and brushed!!!! Only I always want them to scratch and brush me right beside my whiskers!!!
Sometimes, when the doorbell rings or I hear some loud, unexpected sound, I stand up on my hind legs!!! Danae and Mara laugh sooo much when I do that!! I am the proud owner of 2 stuffed animals. One is Mopsy, the rabbit, and the other is Rosie-Anna. Rosie-Anna is a sheepdog, and I just love carrying it around! Lately I have taken to the pastime of Police Kitty in my spare time, which I do not have enough of. I have a whole house to run, and that takes up quite a bit of my time. I also have become something of a celebrity in town. The girls' favorite restaurant is the local Chinese one, and the whole family have been getting to know the Chinese waiters, waitresses, and cooks. My picture of me and my laundry basket that you see at the top of the page is now hanging on the calendar behind the cash register. Our friends at China tell us that it is commented on quite a bit!!
The song you are listening to right now is a medley of Glenn Miller. I am a BIG fan of Glenn Miller, and lots of other Big Band musicians!! That's one of my favorite styles of music. I also like the song Tuxedo Junction, but my absolute favorite is Pennsylvania 6-5000!! If you want to watch my favorite movie, watch "The Glenn Miller Story". I also have a secret fondness for Dean Martin songs. But my all time favorite radio station to listen to is KLOVE. The girls and I listen to it all day long, and sometimes they have it on at night.
