Physical: 5’6”. Medium build, muscular. Middle of the back length light brown hair with natural red highlights (worn pulled back most of the time). Blue eyes, light skin.
Personality: Friendly, loud, and sometimes a bit of a pest with those she knows; rather quiet and withdrawn around those she doesn’t. RK is generally a calm, laid-back individual, but if stressed too much is liable to go off on anyone, but this doesn’t happen very often. She accepts what life throws her way, and is a big believer in fate. She likes to write, using it as an outlet for some of her stronger emotions and also as a way to work out her own feelings/beliefs. She is sensitive, though she may rarely show it; being scolded really affects her; and yet, in the same vein, praise makes her uncomfortable. She is a deep-thinking philosophical intellectual who thoroughly enjoys physical activity and outdoor pursuits. RK feels a distinct bond to anything in nature. She is a loyal friend, and very protective.
Skills/Abilities: Great sense of direction. Skilled in working with dogs and some other animals. Has good equitation and horsemanship.
Powers from Libitina: Heightened perception of electromagnetic fields and auras (i.e. can sense cardinal directions and the location of people, animals, objects, etc. even in the dark).
History: RK grew up in the temperate rainforests of the Olympic Peninsula (WA), but moved with her family to OR when she started high school. During this time, RK struggled desperately with herself to find a new place in life and to figure out what she was meant to do. After suffering through a depression, she fought her own way back to stability, but not before bouncing from one religion to another, trying to find a deeper meaning in her life. Eventually, she developed her own philosophy, and started tackling other issues that she faced, working towards personal healing and growth (which she believes has been a good success).
RK met Mars when Mars moved to OR. They became close friends, and when RK left home to attend college, they decided to room together when Mars graduated from high school. They eventually came to the conclusion that they needed a third roommate to help pay bills, so they interviewed many, many candidates, and finally picked Sandy. (To read a blurb on this, go to Finding A Roommate). RK is studying animal science, and wants to get certified as a veterinary technician.
As you’ve most likely read in the first couple opening parts of Flip Shift, Mars and RK are sometimes (sometimes? Who am I kidding? Quite often!) prone to mischief. They kinda end up attacking Sandy, who kicks them out of the house for the night, so the daring duo head off to some abandoned cabin to sleep. There is where they find some weird magic-type stuff, and end up getting themselves transported to Etuua, where they meet Deygo. They are currently too involved in what’s presently happening to be much concerned about getting back home yet. (Don’t worry, they will think about this eventually, i.e. when it’s relevant to the story.) ^_~
Other Information: Is fairly spiritual. Feels everything is connected, has a spirit, is here for a purpose, and deserves respect. Oh yeah, and she can’t squish bugs. It creeps her out. And caffeine does strange things to her little brain. She has been banned from having caffeine at two of her friends’ houses, as well as the school bus. ‘Tis true, I swear…
