Ball Blazer Champions
Yeah, I know that this is an old game, but I'm going to start this review by saying that this game is worth checking out if you haven't. It is a remake of the classic game of the same name on the Commadore 64. The story is basically the same basic futuristic stuff. This time a war is fought for the galaxy and they decide to make the the winner of the Ballblazer game the winner... ...and then, after piece the people still play the game. I assume the people of the future have a lot of time on their hands.
GraphicsThese graphics aren't as gorgeous as they were in back in the day (1997), but they are pretty sharp and more than adequate for the game. The framerate is smooth, even in two player splitscreen mode and they are really bright for a game of this style. (You know, the "dark future" thing. This still applies, but at least these dark people of the future did a fine job lighting their arenas.)
Sound
Average. Average sound effects and music, and an annoying announcer that should sell used cars... err... hovercars.
Control
Overall the control is good and responsive, but it varies depending on which vechicle that you are using. The button layout perfect for this game. It feels natural and everything is where it should be.
Gameplay
The gameplay is simple, but fairly solid. You drive a rotofoil and attempt to pick it up and launch it into a goal. This sounds easy but your competitor is always gunning at you and some of the arenas aren't straight forward. This makes it interesting and it is satisfying to shoot your rival just before he shoots the ball. The weapons are gathered a la Twisted Metal.

OVERALL 7 Worth checking out.
