Crash Bandicoot 3
Ah the number "3", a digit you would never see coming from Capcom. Or, the number 3 is linked
to a series that is being milked to death ::cough::Mortal Kombat::cough::. Luckily, this is not the case
here. CB3 is the third in a series of exceptional platformers for the PSX::lick me Big M::. The series has
been known for its excellent graphics, tight control and addicting gameplay. Third times a charm, as this
is the best of the series by far.
GRAPHICS
Mmmmm.. I'm now a graphics whore. I have been totally spoiled this year between the 3d accelerated games
on my PC, and now the recent rise in the PSX graphics quality with MGS, Colony Wars 2, and many others.
CB3 is now at a tie with MGS for the most beautiful game I have ever seen on the PSX. Every graphics trick
in the book has been used in this game. The levels are huge, bright, and very colorful. The enemies are detailed
numerous and well animated. Crash and Coco are now playable::dont go there:: and the usual sundry of ways
to travel a level are there. Coco can now ride a baby tiger, and Crash can ride a hog::a motorcycle:: and a biplane.
But the coolest level by far has got to be the underwater levels. Light streams
down from beneath the waves, which are constantly rippling. Crash can swim underwater or move on a sub, which is way
too cool. Well, I have to stop rambling now, but these are the best grahics that I have ever seen. Mmmm..
graphics...
SOUND
Not too much to say on the sound bit. Its typical Crash sounds, with cheery music and sound effects. Great
but nothing too exceptional.
CONTROL
Yep, the usual spot on control is back. Crash has even more moves to peform is this game, and they can all
be executed with ease. The control is always spotless, and there is never any delay or lag in the control
so if you die, its your own damn fault! Quit yer bitchn!
GAMEPLAY
Ah, the perfect gameplay. My love for platformers is no secret, and this game is for now the culmination of the genre.
You can take "Spyro" and shove him for all I care, just give me Crash. All of the levels are perfectly balanced.
There is no frustration if you get caught in a level, just a burning desire to play for just "ten more minutes".
And there are the vehicle driving sections which add all of the variety you need. Now, some people will whine
that its too easy or short. Trust me, to truly master the game and get all of the games, it will take a long long time.
Now if you will excuse me, I have to go back and play some more.
GRAPHICS 10/10
SOUND 8/10
CONTROL 10/10
GAMEPLAY 10/10
OVERALL 10/10 and now I must do the Crash Dance,. If you know what this is, you are as pathetic as I am.
