Haunted Online's Top Story

All My Children...

September 4,2005
Follow the chill that shimmies down your spine, the cold sensation that radiates through your warm soul, and I'll be there...

Have you noticed that nearly every haunted thriller made has children in it. Either they are posessed, as in the Exorcist movies, or ghosts, as in every other movie, it seems. Perhaps the scariest of all, these chilren may be mere shadows of something evil afoot, such as in Darkness or even the girls jumping rope and singing in the classic Nightmare on Elm Street series. Whatever the role of children in these movies are, I like it...

I have adoped my own undead 'children of the corn' this year for your haunting pleasure. I have moved them in to one of the abandoned rooms of my castle, but that does not mean they stay. As in all children, their legs wander and spirits roam, and these are no different. You may be surprised in your tour this year...

The Ring, Ringu, haunting beginnings

September 20, 2003
October 18, 2002 was indeed a great day for horror and suspense fans. Labeled as perhaps the best suspense thriller of our time, The Ring, took a smart look at what has been going on for a while. Apparently, the subject of electronic hauntings was introduced as early as January 1998, eight months before my first report. Was it Ringu, the Japanese sensational movie, that started hauntings of this type, or perhaps electronics-bound spirits gave birth to the idea? We will never be absolutely sure.

The Ring has probed a fictional account of electronic haunting in the case of... well if you havent seen the movie, I won't spoil it for you. I never saw Ringu, but I don't have to in order to know that the idea had existed beforehand. Spirits can come through media just as easy as anyway else.

Talking to a child' parent a few days ago, I got chills down my spine when I actually heard of one with wn ears. Apparently her grandmother and her made a pact that when her grandmother passed, she would let her know in some way. Well, she did in the form of three bouts of the television mysteriously coming on. While not exactly the type of haunting previously documented, a roaming spirit did 'signal' her intentions through the media.

An Undead Milestone

As the millennium approaches, there is increasing speculation about what is going to happen. Extremists may call it a form of Armageddon; planes will fall from the skies, banks and businesses will crash, nuclear missiles will fire, and a host of other problems will compound the already existing problem. But that will be just a small problem. Yes, I'm talking about a world war, but not as you would expect - and over/underworld war.

"We are experiencing a lull in hauntings because the season is no longer upon us," explained psychic Domino Reeves. "Holloween 1999 is going to be one of dynamic proportions; it's the last Holloween of the century and the last chance of worldwide possession from the underworld."

According to Reeves, the millennium is significant because the undead souls trapped in the overworld 1000 centuries ago must wait until the next millennium to finally rest, which in this case is the year 2000. The millennium is a milestone that opens up a portal to the underworld. Some souls have waited the full 1000 years while some have only waited a few hundred.

Reeves suggests that the eternal rest is boring. "If you were aware of yourself after death, I don't think that you would like to let that go," he adds. "It's the death of the undead, and the only way to cheat it is to inhabit a living soul."

Holloween introduces a state of mind that is pliable by the desperate undead, as demonstrated by Aaron on Holloween 1998. The spirit of Dragnor succeeded in possessing his body, at least for a couple of hours. The closer it the season comes, Reeves predicts that this year will see more hauntings than last year, as the undead try desperately to cheat their second death.

You can either prepare yourself for a catastrophic electronic shutdown that will send our civilization back to the middle ages, or get yourself ready for the ultimate battle - for your soul.
