Beatnik Cowboy
copyright 1998 Carl Rust
Beatnik Cowboy is a man
who don't care about nothing anymore
He bottles his tears and sells them
to strangers door to door
Have you seen him?
In one hand holds a cigarette
The other one bongo drums
And he wears those cheap sunglasses
and no longer sees the sun
Watch him down the dying grass road
Watch his sunset eyes
as they roll back into his head
when he sees the working class dead
strum the guitar light the candle wick
watch those shadows on the wall
cellos moan sing to the sky
song of nonsense pockets full of dye
