AN EXTRA SPECIAL DIME

MARY M. MILLER
September 25, 1917 - January 1, 1998

My grandma's love was a special love, more than I really knew.
One time I thought she loved you more, but I found that wasn't true.
Years would come and years would go, and in the mailbox we would see,
that one special card she would send to each of you and me.
And in that card we would find, not just 1, 2, or 3, but 5 small dimes
that would remind, just how much she loved us you see.
But one great year, I would find

AN EXTRA SPECIAL DIME.
For in that card I got 6 dimes, though not done deliberately,
And then I knew it was my sign from God up above,
He sent that dime straight to me to show me her special love,
and from then on, I finally knew she loved us equally, and
today I want to thank the lord for sending her down to me...
I LOVE YOU GRANDMA

My grandma passed away on January 1, 1998. She was 80 years old. I have never written a poem in my life but the night she passed away, I was woken up at 4am out of my sleep and this poem just came to me. This woman was and still is a very special lady in my life and this is my tribute to her.
