"A DIFFERENT KIND OF GIRL"

Chapter 1

Dusk had just fallen on the town of Montreal. Usually, the only sounds heard were of the cars darting here and there and of the city lights calmly buzzing. However, on this particular night the only sounds heard were of the chatter coming from hundreds of teenage girls anxiously awaiting to be let into the doors of the concert stadium.

We turn our attention now upon two of those teenage girls. One was a rather short, petite brunette. Her ensemble consisted of a moderately short skirt of a soft shade of seagreen. She wore a transparent, white blouse with a white undershirt underneath. Clearly, she was very thrilled to be where she was. Her companion, on the otherhand, was looking around the parking lot in a very nonchalant, carefree manner as if her mind was elsewhere. She was a medium size girl of about 5'6 with shoulder length blond hair that was layered in a very stylish fashion. She had opted for comfort wearing jeans, black boots, a white oxford shirt, and a black pleather jacket. Her hands were odorned with silver jewlry while a silver choker rested on her neck. Most noticeably though, were the stream of earrings she possessed. There were at least eight on each ear. She had an air of self-confidence and intelligence. One could tell she was a very sophisticated, deep individual mainly by the way her intriguing blue eyes looked curiously about her. Her friend suddenly turned to her, and spoke rapidly in French.

"I just cannot belive we are here, Pascal. Thank-you so much for coming. There was just no way that I was going backstage without someone to interpret for me. How I wish I could speak English! If I was as smart as you I probably would."

"Oh, Ang`ele. You know I do not mind. 'Anything for a friend.' You know that is my motto. Who are we going to see again?" Pascal D'Angelou teased. She always smiled with only one side of her mouth.

"Pascal, don't tease me! Their name is 'N Sync, for the last time. I know you are not into this whole "boyband" thing, but these guys are different. I promise! I'll bet when we meet them, you will be so charmed by them that you will not be able to resist falling for them. You know, you cannot just listen to classical music all the time." Ang`ele retorted jestfully.

"We shall see. Ah, they are now letting the natives in to worship their gods." Pascal sarcastically remarked.

"I am going to ignore that being that I am so excited. I can't believe it is almost time to see them!"

Pascal rolled her eyes playfully, and the two journeyed into the gigantic stadium. Pascal had been there many times before for concerts. You see, while other teenagers found work in restaurants or shops, Pascal had found that working as an interpreter could supply excellent money. This was not the first time that someone had brought her to a concert to help them communicate with their favorite musical idols. Not every French speaking resident could speak English. Anyhow, Pascal led her eager friend to the backstage area. They showed the security guards their passes. Out of fun, the security guards teased the girls and said that they could not go in their without a password. Pascal merely told them to step aside and to quit harrassing them. The security guards were not used to retalliation and quickly stepped aside. If there was one thing Pascal had learned early in life it was that you have to show people who was the boss. She was not an obnoxious, aggressive girl, she simply did not like nonsense and impudent people. Ang`ele nervously told Pascal to hurry up or they might never get to see the boys. Pascal was not one to worry and fret over anything, so she told Ang`ele to calm down. Finally, they approached the autograph signing tables........
