"A DIFFERENT KIND OF GIRL"

Chapter 11

One evening after a concert in Toronto, a city that Pascal knew very well, Justin asked her if they could go somewhere. Lynn said it was okay with her. It was late, so there would not be hardly any chance of a problem with fans. Pascal knew of a wonderful place to get ice cream. After they showered and dressed, they silently crept out of the backdoor of the hotel just in case some fans were in the lobby. Justin loved his fans, but this was going to be his time alone with Pascal. Pascal was wearing loose jeans, a form-fitting white t-shirt, and a lime-green sweater tied around her waist. Justin had opted for baggy jeans and an Addidas shirt with sneakers. "Do you not just love this city?" Pascal murmurmed dreamily.

"Yeah, it is so clean and peaceful. Pascal, I am glad that we are getting some time alone with each other. I know we have before, but this is the first time we have actually gotton to go out together. You know, on a date." He took her hand into his.

"I am glad, too. I know that your career is important to you and that not having too much freetime is a sacrifice you made, but you need to allow yourself sometime for idle pleasures." They continued hand in hand to the ice cream parlour. When the got their ice cream, Pascal said, "Oh, I just remembered this adorable park that is not too far away from here."

"Well, let's go." They found a bench and sat down. The sky was a beautiful shade of midnight blue and there was not a cloud to be seen. Stars had taken over the night. A soft breeze gently made the trees sway. The fragrance from the flowers was delightfully intoxicating. Justin and Pascal talked about life in general for a while, and Justin decided to ask her about something a bit more personal. "Have you ever had a boyfriend or someone whom you were just like really crazy about?"

"You mean someone whom I called mon amour? Well, to tell you the truth, I have never really had a serious relationship. Most of the boys where I live are pretty immature. Sure, I have had several that I just liked to go out to parties with and take to dances and things such as that, but it never really evolved into any more than that. I guess I have never really felt the need to always have a boyfriend. It just is not something that has always occupied my mind. However, lately, there has been someone who has made me thing twice about such matters," she finished with a sly smile.

"Oh, really? Tell me about him?" Justin teased.

"Well, to begin with, he is a musician, but that is not why I like him. In fact, when I first met him, I did not want to get involved with him."

"Why not?"

"I did not want him to think that I was like every other girl in Canada. I thought that he would think that I liked him only because of his social status."

"How could he think that? I mean all it takes is five minutes with you to realize that you are not like that." Justin was enjoying this.

"What else?"

"Well, he is very charming and sweet. I don't know what exactly it is about him. You know, we don't really choose who we fall for. What about you?", she coyly questioned.

"I am going to be honest with you. I have never really thought about seriously getting involved with someone, until recently," Justin cast her a wicked grin, but then turned a bit more solemn. "There was this girl whom I fell really hard for. We were only 14 or so, but it was more than "teenage love", you know what I am saying? Well, anyway, I caught her with another guy, forgave her, but she wanted him instead. Since then, I have never really wanted to have a steady relationship. I have just wanted to have some fun, date, and just be a guy I guess you could say. That's my story."

"I am so sorry. I would not wish such treatment even on my worst enemy. But you know, you have to think of all the people that have wonderful relationships that do not involve secrets and lies. That girl was just one of the very few that have trouble committing and realizing what a fabulous thing that they had," Pascal ended with a sympathetic smile.

"I never really thought of it that way. I think more than anything, I never really found a girl whom I felt really comfortable with and felt more than just an attraction to, but recently......" Justin trailed off playfully.

"Oh, so you, too, have your eye on someone! Well, it is your turn now!"

"Well, she is not an American like myself. She is French-Canadian in fact. But you know what is so cool about her?"

"What?"

"In all the interviews me and the guys go to, someone always asks us what our "dream girl" is like. I always say someone with a sense of humor, fun-loving, self-confidant, and with a good personality. However, almost all of the girls I have dated have been the opposite of my "ideal" girl. Now that I look back on it, they have been obnoxious, not fun-loving. They have been vulgar, not funny. They have been arrogant, not self-confidant. They have been snobby and superficial, not friendly and sweet. I hate to admit it, but all I was interested in was how they looked. But this girl that I met is different. When I first laid my eyes upon her, I could tell she was different. She is intelligent, talented, witty, optimistic, and overall, the perfect girl. I cannot believe I wasted my time on those other girls. The main thing that I love about her is that she always has a smile on her face and makes me feel that she likes me because I am Justin Timberlake, not Justin of 'N Sync."

Pascal gazed up at him adoringly. He gently put his hand on her cheek and leaned his face towards hers. Pascal followed his lead, and they entered into a sweet, soft kiss. It was heaven. After a few moments, they pulled away and looked at each other. Pascal was the first to speak, "So what does this mean?"

"It means that I want us to be together. Just me and you. No one else. I swore I would not fall again, but I can't help it. I am so crazy about you."

"It would be torture for me not to be with you."
