"A DIFFERENT KIND OF GIRL"

Chapter 3

Justin had seen Pascal in line waiting with her friend and was completely taken in by her. She had an air of self-assurance and she seemed so good-natured. When the pair approached him, he warmly gazed at Pascal. She was a bit taken aback, but she said her lines mechanically. "She is not a fan!" Justin happily thought. The problem with dating a fan was that he never knew if they liked him for who he was on the inside, but this girl was obviously not that type. He immediately noticed and loved her accent. It was soft and wispy, and she spoke at a steady pace as if each of her words were chosen with care. There was no doubt in Justin's mind that this was a very intelligent, independent girl. Pascal was not the only one that was being observed. As much as she hated to admit it, the boy in front of her had charm and charisma. It seemed as though he hung on to every word she said and took special interest in her and her friend. "Oh, do not be silly!" Pascal scolded herself. "He probably treats every girl that way." However, Pascal could not fail to notice that he was barely paying attention to her friend at all. Pascal felt bad. She tried to get him to focus on Ang`ele as much as possible, but there was no doubt about it, Justin was definitely smitten with her as she was with him although Pascal only subconsciously realized it at the time. She felt herself strangely drawn to this American boy. He was witty, friendly, and was definitely one of the most handsome boys she had ever laid eyes upon. "This is so unlike me to fall so easily. Get a hold of yourself, D'Angelou! After this concert, you will never see him again," Pascal reasoned. As much as Pascal hated to, she knew that she and Ang`ele had best go find their seats. "Well, it was so nice to have met you Monsieur Justin. Good luck with the show. You do not know how much this meeting with you has meant to my friend."

Justin panicked. He could not believe that this beautiful, elegant girl was about to walk out of his life forever. "Timberlake, get a hold of yourself! This is the price you paid getting into this business. You have to get over it." He hugged Ang`ele as she had requested and then offered his hand to Pascal. She slowly took it into her own. His hand was so warm. Her hand was soft. Pascal abrubtly let go, gave a little bow to him, smiled her half-smile, and motioned for Ang`ele to follow her.
