" A Different Kind Of Girl"

Chapter 6

"Pascal, where are you?"

"I am in the library, grandfather."

"Ah, there you are. You never get tired of reading and looking through your books do you?" Pascal's grandfather, Blaise, teased.

"My books are my children," she teased putting one hand over her heart for effect.

"I have something I want to discuss with you. You see, I got a telephone call this morning from the manager of a group you and Ang`ele went to see last night. Their name is N Sync, I believe. Anyway, their manager said that he overheard you saying that you do interpretaional work, and he would like for you to tour with them this summer throughout Canada. How do you feel about this proposition?" Blaise questioned.

"They want me to tour with them? This would be an incredible opportuniy! You know how I love to travel. I want to major in foreign languages, so this would be the chance of a lifetime. I know that it might get hectic, but I think that I would be a fool to pass this up. If you say that I may, I would love to do this."

"You have my permission." said Blaise with satisfaction. He loved making his granddaughter happy.

"They are going to stop by this afternoon for tea so as to work out the final arrangements. We felt that you would say 'yes' to this, so I went ahead and made plans for them to visit."

Pascal could not believe this was happening to her. Her life had not been an easy one. Her parents had been killed in a car accident when she was only three. Her beloved grandmother, Simone, had died two years ago. Often, she was disliked by schoolmates because of her intelligence and higher position on the economic scale. She was an extremely talented girl being that she played the violin and piano with near perfection. Secretly, she had ambitions of one day becoming a star violinist. Perhaps she would play for the London Symphony Orchestra or have a solo career. Reading and writing were two of her other passions in life. She spoke several languages including Spanish, German, and Gaelic, the language of the Celts in Ireland, as her grandmother had belonged to that clan. As mentioned before, she was indeed a prodigy. She had recently graduated highschool at only sixteen. Although, she was able to go onto college now, she felt a need to rest from school for a while. Touring with the group for a month was just too good to pass up.

She began to get anxious over the boys coming over. "I cannot believe that I will be seeing Justin again. Will I really mean anything to him? Perhaps he just picks one girl during a concert to pay attention to just for fun. Well, I guess we shall see at tea time." With that final thought, she went to prepare for her upcoming trip.
