" A Different Kind Of Girl"

Chapter 8

Wednesday came more quickly than Pascal imagined. Even though she had to be at the airport so early she was not tired and groggy. To say the least, she was extremely enthused with the way things were going. They arrived at the airport at 5:30AM. They made their way down to gate 35B. Pascal reminded herself repeatedly to stay calm and relax. They were just regular boys after all. She had once again dressed for comfort. She was wearing loose black slacks, a white oxford shirt, and a sleeveless black sweater with blue, green, and yellow stripes. She looked sophisticated and en vogue. The boys saw her approaching with her Blaise. They were amazed at how little luggage she had. Most girls brought tons of stuff with them. She noticed them and waved. Pascal was surprised that flocks of girls weren't surrounding them. Well, it was a bit early in the morning. Anyhow, she strolled towards them. Blaise chatted with the manager and Lynn.

"Hey, good to see ya again," said Joey. "It is hard getting up this early, huh?"

"Actually, no, because I like getting up early. Plus, I love to fly, so I am pretty perky this morning." Pascal smiled. She and Justin exchanged friendly glances. They were clearly overjoyed to be seeing each other again. Then, it was time to board the plane. Pascal gave Blaise huge hugs and kisses. He would miss her so much, but he knew that this is what she wanted to do. Pascal spoke rapidly to him in French telling him to take good care of the kittens and to dust her books every few days or so and also to make sure that her roses stayed watered often. It was a touching site. They all boarded the plane. Justin and Pascal walked side by side into the plane. Naturally, they found a seat together.

Once they were seated, Pascal leaned over to Justin and said, "Do you want to talk or sleep?" Justin wanted to talk, of course. The flight would be three hours, and they had each other all to themselves. Both were having a fabulous time. After an hour or so, Pascal seemed to be getting restless. "What is wrong?" Justin said concerned. "Oh, you see, I am a diabetic, and I have to eat at certain times. I don't feel so hot, so I need the stewardess to bring me some orange juice to bring my bloodpressure up again." Justin quickly signaled for the stewardess. Pascal explained the situation and the waitress brought her a coke and orange juice also promising that breakfast would be served shortly. "You sure do have deal with some stuff don't you. I don't know how you do it," Justin said in amazement but also with concern.

"Well, some people let things like this get in their way, but I feel like life is just too short not to be happy. Besides, God has not given me anything I cannot handle. It has made me a stronger person having a few setbacks, if that is what you want to call them, in life." She truly was incredible. Both got a bit sleepy and decided to shut their eyes for a bit. Before Justin drifted off, he glanced over to Pascal. He could tell that she was freezing. He called the stewardess over and asked her to bring a blanket for Pascal. He gently placed the blanket over her so as to not awaken her. She looked so peaceful while she slept, almost like a dainty little fairy. That was what she was: a person full of magic. He had never ever met a girl like her. He delicately placed her hand in his own and then fell asleep.
