Chapter 6

"Justin?"

"Hey I'm back! Got the ice cream."

"Great." Liz gave him a kiss.

"Let me run over to my mom's room. We need some bowls to eat this with."

"Not out of the carton?"

"Civilized, Liz, Civilized."

"Yeah, yeah."

He walked into the hallway, passing J.C. and Lance's room and Joey and Chris's. He came to his mother's.

"Mom!?" He knocked and knocked again. No answer. "I guess we'll be eating out of the carton again." As he turned to head back, the door opened.

"Justin?"

"Hey Mom. I was wondering if you had any cups or bowls or anything."

"Yeah sure, there are some cups on the table." She told him as she headed back into the bathroom.

He found the cups. "Thanks!" he yells through the door as he headed back out. He slipped the card into the slot. The light turned green and he turned the handle.

"Liz, I got the cups." He looked up. What he saw froze him in place, froze him over with surprise, disbelief and heartbreak.

"Liz?"

J.C. and Liz broke apart. "Justin, this isn't what it looks like."

"Oh isn't it? Hmm…it looked like you two were sucking some serious face, so what were you really doing?"

"It was nothing, really, a stupid thing." Liz looked at J.C to try to get some help from him.

"I thought you were different Liz. And you. This is what you've wanted all along, isn't it J.C. Are you happy now? It's over!" He stormed out of the room, into the elevator, to the garage. He jumped into the rental car and sped off. Driving helped him relax, to concentrate, to clear his mind. He had to get away.

Then there was complete and utter darkness, the world was silent for one long moment. And then the was nothing.
