Chapter 14
I’m Sorry

Chris waited anxiously as JC spoke to the administrative secretary. He paced the length of the floor, oblivious for everything around him. “Chris, relax,” Justin said. “Everything is going to be fine.” “What is she doesn’t want to see me?” Chris asked worriedly. “She will Chris,” Justin assured him. “She loves you.” “OK, I got her address,” JC cried triumphantly. “Let’s go.” “I don’t think we’ll have to,” Lance said. “What do you mean?” Chris demanded. “Look.” Lance pointed across the street where a redhead sat on the bench, reading a book, twirling a piece of hair around one slender finger. “Go talk to her,” Justin urged. “Take this for luck,” Joey said, handing him his Superman medallion. “Thanks.” The gesture made Chris smile. He made his way across the street to where Chloe sat. She was so absorbed in her book that she didn’t notice Chris until he was a few steps in’t notice Chris until he was a few steps inidn sat.’t notice Chris .

When she looked up several emotions passed through her clear green eyes. Her rosebud mouth dropped open. She was so beautiful. He couldn’t believe he had ever been able to hurt her. All he wanted to do was wrap his arms around her and say he was sorry. But, “Surprise,” was all Chris could think of to say. “What are you doing here?” Chloe asked. “I came to see you,” Chris answered. “To say I’m sorry.” “For what?” Chloe bit her lip nervously. “For not giving you the chance to explain that night,” Chris explained. “I’m sorry I made you feel like you had to leave.” Chloe opened her mouth to speak, but Chris stepped forward, hushing her by putting his finger over her lips. “No, let me finish,” he told her. “You trusted me as must I trusted you and at the first test in our relationship I broke your trust worse“You trustever broke ever. She simply stared down at her hands, a curtain of hair hiding her face from sight. “Did you hear me?” Chris asked. “I said-“ “I heard you,” Chloe interrupted. Chris sank to his knees in front of her. “Do you forgive me?” “You didn’t have anything to say sorry for,” Chloe told him. “It’s all my fault. I’m the one who lied.” “But, I didn’t even give you a chance to explain,” Chris protested. “Do you think we could pick up where we left off?” “How could you trust me?” Chloe asked. “Everything we had was based on a lie. Besides, you told me yourself, eighteen is too young.” “I changed my mind,””I changed. “I love you, I want to make this work.e e you, I want to make this work.’m sorry for everything.I’m sorry for everything." Her expression was a mixture of joy and something else..... “Well, what do you say?” Chris asked anxiously. “Yes,” Chloe whispered. Chris jumped up, pulling her into his arms. He looked deeply into her green eyes that were shining with unshed tears. “Say it again.” “Yes, Christopher Allen Kirkpatrick, I will marry you,” Chloe said. “I love you,” Chris said. Chloe smiled as tears of happiness streaming down her face. “I love you too.” They shared a sweet kiss, sealing their vow.
