Such an easy thought.

Your fierce hard surface, this mask, this act is shallow.

You're not getting away with it, that's the sad part.

Cause you're a HU-man not A man, it's just a lie.

A social fiction, it's all in your head.

And we all fell for it.

Time to get out.

--- Actually, the first acknowledgement is that neither one of the labels man or woman, can tell the truth about people. Labels are for cans. A jar of jam, a jar of honey. It will never work with humyn beings. We are so much more. That is the thoughts behind the opposition towards  labelling of people through the adherence to sex. However, this song concerns the people that somehow strive to gain more masculinity in order to attain an approved level of manhood.

From our perspective, manhood is nothing else but fiction. It's an idea created by humyn beings and there's a purpose behind it; manhood is about power. It's an ethic about exerting power over those who are less masculine. The fictional aspect of it has to do with the way that some people wish that manhood [and womanhood] exist just like, for example, a chair does. However, chairs and such things, will continue to exist without our belief in them. Not so with the idea of an identity; in this case manhood. And the identity of being a man, the identity of having some sort of manhood, would not exist if humyn beings didn't believe in it. Think of it as of gravity. The force of gravity would definately be with us even without our belief in it. Things would still continue to fall down on us, wouldn't they? So you might say that manhood is an abstract entity. However this abstract entity manifests itself daily through acts. Manhood is acted out through specific acts. By choosing acts that are appropriate to the identity of being male, people can create or produce the form of manhood they are looking for. Manhood, just like any other idea, has to be created and maintained by those who want it - or else they'll loose it. This explains why men so often fight when they are challenged by other men. Cause if they would back down in a fight, they would also back away from masculinity. Loosing a bit of their manhood.

Why then is it necessary, as the text suggest, to abolish manhood?

Well, we are convinced, that the set of principles that manhood rests upon is denigrating towards femininity and hence towards women as a category and also towards any humyn being that wishes to display any other characteristic or quality that isn't specifically masculine. Basically, what it means to be a man, is to not be a womyn, to not be feminine and consequently manhood reduces our human potential. Manhood is an idea of oppression where people are rated after the amount of masculinity they possess. That is why we need to abolish it. Without people believing in, and striving to achieve manhood we would be better off as a society AND as humyn beings.

There will be extensive reading concerning manhood up here later on. Til then use the links from the main site.
