It was like poster night for violence. Buffy and Faith finally bond and what happens? Dust flies...errr...settles everywhere 0:-) I think Faith is really trying to be one of the Scooby Gang - not in the "conformist-lets get matching outfits sort of way" but rather in the whole "Grrrr" sort of way. She had sex with Xander, sealed that Hellmouth (again) last week and today bonded with Buffy while they cut school to set vamps on fire and dance with guys on the prowl. (perhaps I should say mate)
Lets (as usual) escalate from the smallest vamps to the biggest melting head 0:-) The renegade vamps that infested Sunnydale this time around were very...weird? It makes you wonder how many of the sword weilding weirdos there were originally - I mean if this clan or cult or whatever is a couple of hundred years old - why are there so many of them still running around? Cause we saw a lot of them be dusted, staked, stabbed, squished and just plain old burned - and lets not forget the whole beheading by that prime speciman of manhood - Giles 0:-)
You have to figure that A LOT of them were thinned out by as that wussy new Watcher said "internal sword fights and anti-vampire campaigns" but if they did die...and lets think this through here 0:-) wouldn't the number still out there today have been miniscule? Unless they continued creating new vamps and teaching them their style of dress and fighting - in which case they should really buy a copy of Esquire or something! I mean they might as well just walk around with "Geriatric Vamp Pride" signs & patches - that way they at least get a parade 0;-)
And speaking of a perfect model of attire Mr. Trick was back!!! (Isn't it sad when Mr. Trick starts to blend in more than other vamps?) Yay for the token black vamp! Wo0h0o!!! and he has a spiffy new haircut too... ok - enough excitement 0:-)
Then there was that big old evil bad Balthazar just *wallowing* in his filth and squishing people's heads - he HAS TO get the award for the "Most Likely to Cause Food Regurgitation Bad Guy" *shudder* He looked like a naked Michelin Man - not that I regularly fantasize about naked tires - even if its okay if you guys do - I mean every once in a while but not a lot - ok so maybe if they're very shiny tires...I'll be quiet now 0:-)
Oh wait no - I was talking about the bad guy - he was gross and yucky and made of that slimy stuff that I was always scared would grow behind my ears if I didn't wash properly 0:-) Wouldn't it be cool if that guy actually grew somewhere? Like in the Sunnydale High Chem lab? 0:-) I know he's too old to have actually done it but 0:-) I wonder what wealthy landowner was in that casket wearing the pendant?
Wouldn't it have been cool in a tragic sort of way if that was an old slayer who died stopping "His Growthness"? Although he did say his "ultimate enemy" crippled him 100 years ago and now is at the brink of ultimate power - could that enemy have been the Mayor? Although he is kind of creepy and has a lot of bad guys on his side I don't think he's been around for 100 years (even in Sunnydale someone would have noticed), so I guess this enemy is whatever The Mayor is trying to awaken... *shudder*
What else? Hmmm - the new watcher Wesley - very young, naive and eager to get on with his job - a bit pompous and longwinded but I heard all watchers are that way *eg* It was so cute when he was boasting of killing his two vampires 0:-) I bet his mummy is so proud!
And the BIGGIE - The Mayor's temporary immortality! Wo0oh0o0o!!!!!! That could come in handy over in Sunnydale - sort of like Willow's lilacy protection spell *hehe* Poor Willow though - everyone has been getting close to Faith but her. I felt so bad when Faith and "B" skipped out on her while she was hanging out...and all so they could kill a guy.
The Mayor's assistant Allan was a nice guy - quiet, unpretentious and he read Cathy - I *love* that comic strip - Marmaduke & Co. generally just irritate me 0:-P He shouldn't have died the way he did...I mean sure "Mayor's Crony" and he was being usurped by the less than mortal Mr. Trick but nonetheless - he had his charm. I was kind of upset to see on the Mayor's To Do List "Call Temp Agency" - could he have mourned a bit longer?
The whole episode just plain old rocked - it was expensive, showy, violent, touching and witty. 0:-) I dug the whole people talking about college, Oz's black hair (which for some reason looked weird), the way Cordy and Xander made fun of each other (yeah she's really over him *rolling eyes*), the way Faith's attitude is so much different from Buffy's and the way Joyce reasoned her way out of waffles 0;-) Wonderful episode...right down to Buffy's straddling Angel 0:-)
