Yes, three years of being an English major in college and four years of Creative Writing in high school have all accumulated in me to produce the word "duh." 0:-)
Yet how else can I describe this episode where so much could have happened but didn't? The main point of the episode - all the charades and lies - took place so that the slayerettes could be certain of Faith's betrayal. They faked Angellus' return, Buffy's jealousy and everyone else's bewilderment - just so they could find out a slayer had gone astray!!! 0:-P
Whatever happened to wiring someone's phone or following a person or even heaven forbid - asking? 0:-) OK so just asking would not have revealed anything - especially considering how hard headed Faith is...but this is Sunnydale!!! They only have one Starbucks! 0:-) An hour away from Neiman Marcus! Its a small town.
Maybe the "regular, human" folk would not have known anything about it but Willie certainly would have. He betrayed the poor little demon for twenty bucks - I'm sure a fifty or maybe a couple of hard knocks to the head would have revealed Faith's new alliance. Come to think of it though - there have to be some tabloid writers in Sunnydale - its the scourge for the rest of the wrold's ickiness and slime. how come they don't tail the Mayor and his new "pet"? Political scandal is big on r/t - why not in Sunnydale? 0:-)
At least we learned some stuff about Faith's past - I think. I still can't decide if she was being sarcastic or honest when she talked about her broken home and drunken mother - although I guess its plausible *shrug* Her whole bit about needing someone to love was just ridiculous though 0:-P
Angel/Angellus said that he would kill her once Buffy was dead...he beat her up a couple of times (in between the kissage) and tried to kill her Mayor. He didn't even pretend to like her - just kissed her to make Buffy jealous. Although that line about not being able to get the taste of Slayer out of his mouth was hilarious! *lol* Yet Faith seemed to be falling for it and the Mayor too...I can't read him. The Mayor's lack of real emotion is disturbing. I can never tell when he's being crafty or when he's just being trusting and silly.
I wonder how he became immortal? thanks to Oz's wonderful sleuthing at the Town Hall (Oz is so cool), we found out that the Mayor is "the same man" from over a hundred years ago! Yet no one noticed! I suppose he could have come back, pretending to be his own son but still...isn't it kind of spooky? The more I think about it the more I think the "family" he referred to a while ago is just a bunch of slimy, subterrenean monsters. *shudder*
I have to admit the guy is funny though - his suggestion to Faith to play miniature golf a la Ted was hilarious!!! What a wholesome, family game for him to suggest to a murderous teen *lol* At first I thought he was going to suggest the paper shredder and that would have been funny but *giggle*
And milk! *rofl* Maybe he should do a milk ad like Sarah Michelle Gellar did... "Despite 100 years of wear and tear my teeth still retain their wholesome shine - how do I do it you ask? Milk - 100% calcium, 100% nutritious because if you're going to be immortal you better start building up those bones!" I can't help but think the Mayor's mother - wherever she is - is very proud of her little boy. 0:-)
What else happened - in case you hadn't noticed I was pretty disgusted by the whole Angel/Angellus bit and not fooled for a second - have I become cynical? I just kept thinking that they would have made a bigger deal about it if he had decided to return from his hell place inside 0:-) His punching Xander was funny though - even if it was only in jest.
Poor Xander - I keep feeling worse and worse about how he is treated - he lost the "love of his life" and now she is flirting with the younger generation of Giles - who I might add is not even half as cute as the real Giles. I can't decide if Cordelia is really interested in Wesley or she is just making Xander jealus - which is workng BTW 0:-)
The way Wesley treats Giles is really annoying! I was so upset by his whole "the council doesn't know you're working under me" bit! Wesley working over Giles!!! Blah! Giles is 300 times the Watcher Wesley is! 0;-) and what's with Cordy pushing herself on his geekiness? *shudder* "I study best at expensive restaurants." Blah! That's cause you don't eat! Anorexic bimbo!
Willow and Oz seem to be very happy together again 0:-) I am so glad - they are so great and perfect together - but I may have said that before 0;-)
Hmmm...what else? I don't think there was anything else. Faith, the mayor, Angel/lus, Xander, Willow - yep I think that's it 0;-)
Posting! Opinions are wonderful!
