Masking & Second color (charcoal gray)

The final step in Rally II restoration is the masking of the wheels and applying the dark charcoal paint. I used the Rally II masking kit from Year One and obtained excellent results. After making sure the silver base coat is 100% dry, apply the pre-cut masking tape to the spokes making sure that all edges are completely flat and all edges covered. The Year One kit only supplies the masking for the spokes, I used masking tape to block off the outer rim which remains silver. After masking, apply several coats of charcoal paint. I used duplicolor and obtained excellent results. After making absolutely sure that you have full coverage of the dark charcoal and that the paint is dry, remove the masking tape and let the wheels sit for at least 24 hrs.
