DragonBall Z: Budokai 2

I was really excited to play the sequel to the first DBZ fighter on the PS2. However the game kind of left me wanting more. First off the voice actors from the series are back and sound better than ever. They changed the graphics to cell-shading giving it a nice anime look to it, also very nice and the controls are not only the same from the first but in some cases it's a lot easier to pull off the moves. However the main thing that pulls this game down is the Dragon World mode. This takes the place of the Story Mode from the first game and it gave an interesting idea. It goes through the whole series as you playing Goku and another character or two of your chosing. You travel a map area scattered with the villians from the series fighting them and trying to collect the dragonballs so at the end of the game the dragon will appear and unlock something for you. The only problem is unlike the Story mode in Budokai where after you go through it once and unlock new battles. It's the same thing over and over again, same dialogue. Villians move in the same patterns they did before, but the major problem is going through these same battle over and over again is the only way to unlock all the cool stuff like Fusions and special attacks but it's so boring I just used the cheating method to unlock everything. There are some great improvements to the game, but Dragon World is not one of them.

Frankly, I liked the first one better. DragonBall Z: Budokai 2 gets a 3 out of 5.
