Recent paintings of Gogi Saroj
Pal are extensions of her `Naika' series paintings. The naikas are in the
act of savoring Indian spices and Indian fruits. The experience is fulfillment
of senses, Anand- a state of ecstasy. These are appetizers of body, mind
and soul. This is indulgence en route to enlightenment. Since childhood,
whenever I think of a sour mango, my mouth waters. Since childhood, whenever
I pass by a mango tree in the season of unripe mangoes, I am tempted to
climb the tree, pluck mangoes, eat them till the threatening gardener comes
and I jump and run for my life. |
