India has a glorious past and the mystifying monuments are just a part of it. Like all other cities in India, Delhi too has some great sites to offer. Following is a summary of the places one should visit on their trip to Delhi. Including ,but not limited to India Gate, Qutab Minar, Safdarjang Tomb.
BAHA'I TEMPLE
This temple is a splendid example of modern architecture.Made in the shape
of a lotus, it is one of the major attractions for national and international
tourists.It represents the Baha'i faith, which is an independent world religion.
QUTAB MINAR
This five storey high stone tower is situated in South Delhi.Standing tall at
73 metres this tower is visible for several kilometres.In 1199 Qutab-ud Din Aibak
started the construction ,and Iltutmish completed it.
SAFDARJANG TOMB
This red and brown sandstone, garden tomb was built in 1753-54 soon after
the death of Safdurjang.One of the last examples of Mughal architecture, it
also has double storeyed towers at the corners.
HUMAYUN'S TOMB
This tomb is one of the earliest examples of Mughal architecture.The mausoleum
is the first tomb built in the center of a planned garden.It was built by the
wife of Humayun and took eight years to complete.
RED FORT
The fort was completed in 1648 under the rulership of Shah Jahan.It is situated
along the river Yamuna and is surrounded by a wall of red sandstone.It has two
main entrances, The Delhi Gate and The Lahori Gate.
PURANA QILA
The ruins of this fort are located on a small hill on the banks of Yamuna.It
is believed to mark the site of the capital of the Pandavas, Indraprastha.
