The Interview Section

I decided to add this section because I want to have many different opinions from all types of weightlifters. You will find interviews with weightlifters that know hat they are talking about. Some of these interviews will be long, others will be short. This will soon become a very large section, but is just getting started now...

This interview is with Randy Herring, owner of the Fifteen Muscle Building Rules site under my links section. The fifteen muscle building rules are so good that I should have them posted here, but I want you to go see his site and look at those excellent rules and see the rest of his fabulous site. I had a real brief interview with him, but a good one.

Ryan:

  • 1. Why are you into weightlifting?
  • 2. How long have you been lifting?
  • 3. What are your best exercises that work for you?
  • 4. How hard was it for you to gain mass?
  • 5. Have you weightlifted besides mass, for other reasons, like girls?
  • 6. What do you think is the key to weightlifting?
  • 7. What do you think of supplements in general?
  • 8. What do you think of the new "wonder supplement" creatine?
  • 9. Overall, how has weightlifting put impact on your life?
  • 10. How have the fifteen muscle building rules helped you get this far?

Here, in the order of numbers respectively, are the answers to my questions he gave me.

    Randy:

  • 1. For health & fitness, to engage the mind and body for constructive purposes, to stay positive, to feel ALIVE!
  • 2. Since I was 15 years old - for 22 years.
  • 3. Basic compound movements with the right Attitude.
  • 4. Without knowledge of the Fifteen Muscle Building Rules it took me 20 years.
  • 5. No. Started lifting to change my physique and build self-esteem or self-confidence and a more positive outlook in life.
  • 6. The right Attitude and an unrelenting Determination.
  • 7. They help with additional muscle gains where the normal consumption of food doesn't (that can't be found in food alone).
  • 8. It's been around for over a century. Just another marketing campaign to target this specific supplement at this time.
  • 9. Greater self-confidence and a stronger, fitter body.
  • 10. Had I known sooner about the Fifteen Muscle Building Rules I would have gotten there a lot quicker (the gain of lean mass).

    Thank you very much Randy!

My next interview is with Manolakis Karas. He is very knowledgeable in weightlifting and admires people with good, strong backs. I had a short, but good interview with him about some topics on weightlifting...

  • 1. Why have you joined weightlifting?
  • I started weighlifting in order to develop strength for my sport. I was a competitive swimmer back then and my trainer told me that I had to get stronger if I wanted to be more competitive. So I joined a gym and started lifting, non stop since then (7 years now).
  • 2. What positive effect has it had on your life?
  • Many positive effects, like better health, a better body and most of all bodybuilding is a hobby for me and I have fun from it.
  • 3. What is your favourite exercise and why?
  • My favourite exercise is bent over barbell rows because they built a great V shape muscular back, and I really like big backs. Also I'm very good at it.
  • 4. What is your opinion on creatine?
  • I don't like it, I don't think that it does much, and anyway I prefer to keep my money. Creatine on the results/buck ratio fails miserably.
  • 5. Which muscle do you most enjoy working and building up and why?
  • Back cause I always used to envy big bad backs, now they envy mine !
  • 6. What supplement do you find the most useful and why?
  • No one, except protein powders and that if someone doesn't eat enough of it or he is in a protein loading phase, or a diet.
  • 7. Do you have any suggestions for a high protein snack?
  • Nope, I prefer a big steak with beans and wine !
  • 8. Finally, has weightlifting helped you get through any troubled times?
  • Yes many times. When times are bad, there's always weightlifting for me to have fun and forget about my problems, at least for 2 hours or so.

    Thanks you very much Manolakis
