Today I learned a lesson,
it was given by a friend.
At first I misunderstood it meaning,
when I tried to look within.
The Lord taught me this lesson,
along with my friend.
I know it all was in his plans,
when I finally saw the end.
So many times I close my heart,
to people who come close.
But this lesson taught me something new,
that my love forever flows.
This friend opened up my heart,
so I could let my caring flow.
I tried to close it down again,
but this time it will not close.
With the help from my friend,
and the Lords strong hands.
My heart will never close again,
because I know it's in his plans.
He'll keep me safe within his love,
never to let me fall.
His wisdom will forever come,
every time he hears me call.
I must thank my friend for all he's done,
but he knows not what it is.
Without his help I would still be lost,
never knowing this feeling within.
So friend of mine if you see this poem,
know it's you that gave me strength.
For without the lesson you've given me,
with this heart I may not believe.
Thank You my friend for the lesson of the heart.
This blessed lesson will remain forever.
I'm thankful it was you who had the part.
