Hi! I was the last member added to the original group in September of 1997 as a fill-in for one concert, but after that concert, they guys asked me to stay on and here I am nine years later enjoying every moment of the Brasswind experience! My instrumental experience, although not that impressive, goes back over 28 years! I graduated from Warsaw Community High School with an excellent instrumental base and was thrilled to be the Senior Drum Major of our 120 piece marching band, Arion Award winner, and Director's Award winner.
Although I graduated in 1988 from Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana, with a B.S. degree in Business Administration, I continued my love for music by playing in the college Wind Symphony.
Since college I have played in the Grace College & Community Jazz Band, directed a small praise band at church, and have played for several years in the Grace College Wind Ensemble which was wonderfully challenging and helped me grow instumentally. In 2005, I auditioned and was accepted into the prestigious Warsaw Symphony - I love it!!
Throughout all of this, Brasswind has been a main focus that allows me use my talents to worship and fellowship and hopefully help others realize God's love through inspirational instrumental music.
"My Horns"
The trumpet that I enjoy playing the most is my Bach Stradivarius Bb Trumpet with gold accents and heavy valve caps. It has a standard M/L bore and bell, and I really like the tone that it produces. I mostly use a pretty basic 3C Bach gold mouthpiece which I love! If you haven't tried the gold mouthpieces, try one!My fluegalhorn is a professional Blessing Artist Model - I chose the gold lacquer finish of this horn to achieve a darker, mellower tone, and I'm very happy with it.
I also have a Bb French Horn, Conn Mellophone, and a nice Gemeinhardt flute that I love to play and try to incorporate into our Brasswind performances.
"Personal Info"
I enjoy working at a large local orthopaedic manufacturer in the International Regulatory Affairs Department. I also sing in my church choir, collect vintage Warsaw and Winona Lake postcards, and love most outdoor activities including a passion for catamaran sailboating! I live in Warsaw with my husband, Kevin, and two great children: Taylor, age 13; and Ashley, age 21; who is herself an excellent trumpet player.
