1/4 C instant minced onion
1 1/4 C water, divided 8 C, about 14 pieces, of firm white bread cubes 3 C pared, cored and finely chopped apples
3/4 C chopped walnuts 1/2 stick or 4 T butter/oleo, melted 1 1/2 t salt 1 pinch black pepper 1 t sage
1 egg, lightly beaten | In cup, combine minced onion, and 1/4 c. water. Set aside 10 minutes to soften.
In large bowl, combine bread cubes, apples, walnuts, butter, salt and pepper, sage and egg. Add reserved onion and
remaining 1 c. water. With spoon, or your hands, mix well. Turn into a well greased casserole.
Bake uncovered, at 350 degrees F until apples are tender, or about 40 minutes. |
