Background: Gaila was saved as an infant by Grandmaster Lance Carleon in deep space when the transport her family was on was attacked by pirates. The pirates made Gaila an orphan. Grandmaster Carleon sensed the force was strong with Gaila. For even though she was born mute she was able to communicate through the force. He rasied her as his own daughter. Grandmaster Carleon trained Gaila, but Gaila revealed that she did not want to be a Jedi knight. Instead she wanted to be a scholar and study the ways of the Jedi for knoweldge only, not defense. Grandmaster Carleon honored her wishes and helped her study the history of the Jedi. When Grandmaster Carleon started training others he created a Holocron so that he could keep in contact with his students when they were in the galaxy. He choose to make Gaila the keeper of the Holocron and sent her with the Jedi apprentices as they embarked on a quest.
