The 424N, according to records wasn't introduced until the 1930s, but it appears that this one--a silver clad one--was made in limited numbers around 1926. Armored Conns are very rare, but this 424N model is perhaps the hardest to find. I've only heard of about a half dozen of them other than the ones I have, and they all were in the serial number range of less than 150 digits. So rare that this one was worth the trouble for a major salvage. Non-original barrel and thumbrest, keys were fabricated, middle joint replaced, and of course springs and pads. Four different repair technicians worked on this, and finally it plays well again.
