It is quite a story, actually. Here's a brief version: then-Emperor, Andrew Hamilton, got busy at high school. He therefore abdicated the throne of the Empire to Craig Moreau, once his foreign minister and one of his most trusted Dukes. However, before abdicating, the then-Emperor created himself Prince and Fons Honorum of Swan Lake, IN ITS OWN RIGHT. Which, in Gruverian legal terms, means that Swan Lake survived the disbantion of the Empire as an extant principality. Then, recently, His Highness Andrew C. Hamilton the First, Prince of Swan Lake created himself Duke and Protector of Maquoketa, where he now resides. This may give birth to a whole new micronation, the Kingdom/Empire/Duchy/or Principality of Maquoketa. Interesting. I'll keep you informed.
