 Hamster HousingUs hamsters need a cage with horizontel bars so that we can climb up and down them. This entertains us so much, you wouldn't believe it. It should be metal so that we don't chew on it and ruin it. It should be at the very least 24"x 16"x 16". A great cage ist the Habitrail Safari. It is a tad smaller than suggested above and is part plastic, but it has a little balcony that we can go to that adds space. A definite NO are the SAM cages. They are alot of fun, but we chew them tons more that most other cages. The Habitrail has toobs like SAM, but all the corners are rounded off so we can't chew at them. It needs to have an exercise wheel, a 7" square nesting box, a water bottle, and toys to entertain us with. Also, since us hamsters dig tunnels in the wild, so making a burrowing tank would bring you and us so much more enjoyment. To do this, just fill the bottom of an aquarium with sand.(about two feet high) Then put the usual, like water bottle and exercise wheel in the top part just in case we get bored. And of course, cover the top with a net. |
