In a country that is supposed to be free, that has allegedly over
come the social and political barriers of discrimination & prejudice, there is still a "final minority"; the Gay, Lesbian, & Bisexual
community.

The violence and discrimination committed against this community is horrific; ranging from back-alley beatings to the corporate denial of insurance and other benefits to the families and partners of gay employees. Probably the worst is the incidence of teen (and adult) suicides committed either after coming "out of the closet" to unsupportive friends & family or while wrestling with the indecision of coming out. The self-inflicted torture alone is enough to incite the downward spiral into depression that too often leads to suicide.

Despite the dangers that can often be associated with coming out, a growing number of Gays, Lesbians, and Bisexuals are embracing -- often publicly -- their presence in society; especially after President Bill Clinton incited the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy in the U.S. Military (a small step in the right direction), and Disney extended benefits to the families and partners of homosexual employees. Gay Pride is exploding everywhere -- leaving a trail of rainbows that will, hopefully, one day lead us all to the pot of gold at the end.
