BAND INFO: Die Krupps (pronounced "Dee Kr-ups") is an industrial pioneer originating from the early 80's who helped define EBM (electro-body music) along with Front 242. Die Krupps is a two-man band consisting of Jurgen Engler (of the German punk band, Male) and Ralf Dorper (formerly of the synth-pop band, Propaganda). Die Krupps has released two tribute CDs to Metallica and also appeared on the official tribute to Metallica, "The Darkest Album: An Industrial Tribute to Metallica". As Die Krupps moved on into the 90's with the addition of a guitarist (Lee Altus, of the band Heathen) and a drummer (Daren Minter), Die Krupps has moved further and further away from electronic music.
A Tribute to Metallica - OVERVIEW: Well, this is Die Krupps music...it's industrial and it has a little bit of EBM influences in it...but there's something wrong...oh, all of the songs are just covers of Metallica songs. No new material, just covers, covers, covers. Maybe there's a sample thrown in here or there, but's it's just electronic Metallica. A big problem this CD has is that all of the vocals are unvariable and do not do justice to the original vocals. Some of the covers include: "Enter Sandman", "Nothing Else Matters", "For Whom the Bell Tolls", and "The Unforgiven". One good thing about this CD is that it has two remixes by Dave "Rave" Ogilvie who has done work for many industrial bands including Skinny Puppy, David Bowie, Front Line Assembly, and Ministry.
