OVERVIEW: Kuno is a very important side character in the Ranma 1/2 anime. Kuno (who commonly refers to himself as the "Blue Thunder of Furinken High") is a a self-absorbed poet who sees himself as superior to other people. Kuno has been described many times as "insane" (so is the case with the rest of his family which includes Kodachi Kuno and Principle Kuno). Kuno is also pretty self-illusioned. He refuses to believe that the male-Ranma is the same person as his "pig-tailed goddess" (female-Ranma). He has witnessed Ranma's transformation many times but just accuses that Ranma uses "black magic" to replace himself with the female-Ranma. Kuno is one of the weaker characters of the show who usually gets beaten by Ranma every day.

HISTORY: Kuno (as well as many other boys at Furinken High) has always loved Akane, even from the first episode of the show. Because many boys wanted to date Akane at Furinken High, Kuno made a formal announcement that any boy who wishes to go out with Akane must defeat her in battle (which is why Akane always gets attacked in the morning on her way to school). Kuno and Ranma never got along. On Ranma's first day at school Kuno attacked Ranma for talking formally with Akane. After hearing about Ranma's engagement to Akane, Kuno attacked Ranma in the school. Not being a good battle ground, Ranma took the fight outside where both he and Kuno fell into the school's swimming pool. Kuno instantly fell in love with the female-Ranma, but he also stayed in love with Akane. Even to this day, Kuno believes that it is OK for him to love both Akane and female-Ranma. Also, due to a misleading prophecy, Kuno fell in love with Nabiki Tendo. Kuno still attacks Ranma on a daily basis in hopes to win a date with Akane.

FIGHTING STYLE: Kuno's only strength in fighting is his incredible skill in fencing. However, he knows no form of hand-to-hand fighting styles. Kuno's main strength is in his bokken (sword) which he wields with great skill. When Kuno becomes very focused on a fight his skill can rival that of even Ranma. However, Kuno is usually distracted by either his "pig-tailed goddess" or Akane. Kuno's primary weakness is his speed. Ranma has been known to run circles around Kuno while fighting.

WEAPONS: Kuno always uses a wooden bokken (katana) sword, which is a wooden stick. However, this wooden stick has cleanly sliced through trees, destroyed concrete walls, and create incredible amounts of air pressure from swinging it. Kuno seems to have an infinite number of these bokkens.

ATTACKS: BLUE THUNDER ATTACK: This is an attack used when Kuno becomes very angry or focused on a fight. He strikes so fast at his opponent that it rivals even the speed of Ranma's "Kachu Tenshin Amguriken" (Chestnut) attack.
SENPU KEN WHIRLWIND ATTACK: Kuno twirls around with his bokken pointed straight up causing a tornado-like whirlwind to blow up from his body.
