BAND INFO: Noxious Emotion is a slowly surfacing band in America. Being on ADSR Musicwerks Records has placed Noxious Emotion in the "old-style industrial dance" genre. Once consisting of two men (Shane Benson and Michael Wimer), Benson left after the release of "Count Zero". In an interview with an on-line magazine, the question was brought up of Benson's split. According to Wimer, it was mostly musical differences: "Well, that's the exact point that Shane and I didn't see eye-to-eye on. I wanted to go melodic-80's, and Shane wanted to go KMFDM-Ministry." Noxious Emotion is currently a solo act (Wimer doing programming, song writing and vocals). Both releases, "Count Zero" and "Symbols", have had the album concepts by Noxious Emotion's brother band on ADSR Records, Mental Ward.
Count Zero - OVERVIEW: Aggression in EBM form! This is a very emotionally intense CD that has some beautifully arranged synths and head-bopping beats. The vocals seem to be a little distorted and they are a little difficult to understand. However, the music makes up where the vocals kind of let you down. It's pretty much just electro-body music that would go very well in a dance club. However, the songs sometimes sound the same and there is a certain amount of repetitiveness present. NOTE: Sean Setterberg, of Christ Analogue, makes an appearance on this CD!

Symbols - OVERVIEW: Melodic, older (80's) sounding electro body music. This release is also a step up from their previous album, "Count Zero". Instead of intense and distorted vocals, the lyrics seem to mellow down and there isn't as much yelling. With the departure of Shane Benson, the music and vocals are all Michael Wimer alone. The music seems to have mellowed down along with the vocals, but there is still highly dancable material here. There are also some very beautiful and relaxing synths in here to relax you and then, POW! Here comes a beat with synth patterns surrounding it and you just can't stop from bopping you head along with it. NOTE: R. Wilhelm, of Fockewolf, and Kelly Williams, of Ninth Circle (both bands also on ADSR Records) both make an appearance on this CD!
