BAND INFO: Trip is an up-and-coming Christian drum'n'bass band from Briston, England. Trip is Andy Hunter, the DJ, and Martin King, the programmer who is also credited for other Christian electronica bands such as Hydro and dBa. "Trip are part of a church called 'EDEN' which is run by NGM. Cultural Shift finds its way to you direct from the original root of EDEN. It brings you a distinct flavour of experiencing God." This is what is written inside the CD booklet. I searched and I searched, but I still don't know what the "Church of EDEN" is or what "NGM" is. I do know that the music that Trip makes is meant to help you meditate on or worship God. I'm guessing NGM is a large Christian organization.
Cultural Shift - OVERVIEW: Soothing, relaxing, trance-like...these are some great adjectives for this CD. And that is what the music is meant for. "Some of my best worship times to God and feeling close to God, feeling God's Holy Spirit, has always been when listening to dance music or when playing dance music." -Andy Hunter - Cross Rhythms (Issue 44). And I agree; this CD is very soothing with flowing bass and liquid beats. And this isn't just some tinny no-talent-necessary band either. The electronics and sequencing are perfect and the talent factor is apparently high. However, this CD is pretty much meant only for background listening. It's not the best CD to pop in to your CD player to just dance to. However, there are many songs that have a lot of head-bopping quality to them.
