BAND INFO: White Town is a one-man band consisting of Jyoti Mishra which operates out of Britain. Although he lives in the UK, Mishra is actually Indian (NOT native-American!). The band name "White Town" was taken from childhood experiences of being raised in mostly white populated cities. There are many questions about Mishra's sexuality. He currently has a girlfriend named Ele (who he thanks in the "Women In Technology" CD), however he is pro-gay rights. A little-known fact about White Town is that it isn't a one-hit wonder; Mishra has released 2 full-length CDs and whole load of EPs.
Women In Technology - OVERVIEW: Synth-pop! I love it! Here's a dancy CD that is tinny, yet full of talent. There's a ton of talent in here but it is hindered by the lack of budget. This CD contains the hit dance track "Your Woman" which hit the #1 spot in England. Many of the tracks on this CD are filled with emotion yet still have that poppy feeling to them. Almost all of the songs have high dance quality and many have a lot of head bopping beats; however, there is a ton of variety in this CD because a lot of acoustic and electric soft guitar is added in. There are a few tracks that have some afro-cuban sounds to them, but (fortunately) they don't dominate the CD. A little-known fact about this CD is that it contains some samples from 20's and 30's pop music!
