The Listening Center will contain a cassette player unit with at least
6 headset jacks, 6 sturdy padded headsets, antibacterial wipes, various
book sets with audio cassettes, phonics reinforcement tapes, teacher-made
cassette/book sets, several levels of bilingual audio-lingual learning
cassettes and workbooks. Also included should be a sturdy tape recorder
with a microphone, various story books that reinforce distinct phonics
sounds, a record player, records with learning songs, rhyming songs, and
singing games. A collection of audio-visual materials, such as filmstrips
with accompanying cassettes will be used. Last, various CD’s or cassettes
representing music from different cultures, generations, styles, holidays,
symphonies, ballets, and so on, should be available for students to listen
to with a separate CD or cassette player. Art paper or drawing pads
for each student, and markers or crayons for illustrating or writing about
the different feelings that each kind of music evokes in students.
