Jr. Kennel Club Guidelines
Provincial/Zone Competition
Section 7.

7.1
Provincial/zone junior handling competitions shll be held once a year in order to select a Best Junior Handler for each of the CKC designated provinces/zones.
7.2
Junior handlers eligible for these competitions will be permitted to compete in only one of them in any one yer in the area where they are residing as of December 31st of the calendar year in which they establish their eligibility.
7.3
A maximum of the top 4 in each class will be eligible to compete at the provincial/zone finals. In case of a tie for any of the top 4 placements, all juniors eligible for those placements will be invited to compete in the finals.
7.4
All provincial/zone finals must be completed by August 31st of the year following the establishment of eligibility (e.g. junior handling wins for 1996 would establish which junior handlers wold compete in the provincial/zone competition to be held by August 31, 1997). Junior handlers establishing eligibility in the previous year will be permitted to cmpete in the national competition regardless of their age at the time of the national competition.
7.5
The provincial/zone Junior Kennel Club representative will be responsible for selecting the date and location for the provincial/zone junior handling competition in a particular year. Judges for the above competition may be selected by the provincial/zone Junior Kennel Club representative in cojunction with the event-giving club if necessary.
7.6
All the rules of local junior handling competitions shall be observed in the provincial/zone competition except that:
(a) It shall be judged by a minimum of 3 judges. One of the judges will be responsible for ring procedures while the others shall act as observers. After consulting with each other, the judges will select their winners. Score sheets may be used to determine the placements.

(b) There will be 4 classes with a maximum of 4 placements in each class:
Junior - Novice and Open
Senior - Novice and Open

The winners of each class at the provincial/zone finals will compte for top provincial/zone finalist.
7.8
The handler who places second in the class from which the best overall winner is chosen together with the winners of the other 3 classes shall be eligible to compete for runner-up.
7.9
A rosette and trophy may be provided for the winner and runner up. Other prizes and ribbons may be offered to the winners or all handlers.
7.10
A rosette and trophy may also be provided for the junior handler accumulating the most points in junior handling competitions at championship shows during the previous year. This award will be designated highest aggregate provincial junior handling competition. The trophy offered may be a perpetual trophy, or any other type at the discretion of the provincial/zone representative.
