Macroing
Llllllllllet’s get ready to MACROOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Hello all, this here exposition is meant as a set of rules for macroing.
Definition of Macroing:
In the options menu, the lower left tab (shaped like a crescent moon or some such), controls macro buttons (hereafter to be referred to as “macros”). Macros are keys or combinations of keys on the keyboard assigned to perform a specific function in game. The key combos for opening inventory, paper doll, skills menu, journal et al. are all macros, but, for the purposes of these guidelines, we’ll be dealing mostly with macros like F1 assigned to do such things as “Useskill -- Hiding” etc.
Macroing itself is defined as repeatedly activating a macro for the purposes of raising a skill, stats by way of skills, or both. There are two forms of macroing, attended and unattended. Attended macroing involves manually macroing or using a macro program (see below for description of macro programs) to macro while one is present at the keyboard. Unattended macroing is the use of a macro program, or simply taping down a macro, to macro while the user is afk (away from keyboard).
Rules for Macroing:
Currently, unattended macroing is ILLEGAL in the Forgotten Lands. Attended macroing in all its forms is allowed; however, you must maintain a 1 action per 10 second ratio between EACH action.
When policing the lands to find illegal macroers, a gm will appear to the player and say “Hi”, “Hail.”, “Hey there good looking.” *winks at Helios* or some other pleasantry of like, dissimilar or ultimately bizarre nature. Phew! WHEN YOU SEE A GM say “Hi”, “Hail.”…. blah blah blah to let them know you’re there and they will leave you be. Maybe, if you’re lucky, they’ll flirt with you *winks at Helios* *looks around worriedly for Grimm*.
Macro Programs:
Macro Programs are programs external of uo that activate a macro without constant input by the player while uo is running. They operate at an interval input by the player at the beginning of the session or whatever you wish to call it.
Player- “So I’d like to macro hiding.”
Program- “Mmmhmmm. So how did zeese make you feel?”
Examples of macro programs are uoautopilot and uoloop.
Okay! That’s it for macroing. Remember all you daredevils out there, illegal macroing is a jailable (maybe even banable) offense. STAFF RESERVES THE RIGHT TO CHANGE THESE RULES OR TO SIMPLY INSERT CLIP ART OF LITTLE MONKEYS PERFORMING SWAN LAKE AT ANY TIME. KEEP ON YOUR TOES.
