Dragonball: Next Generation - Chapter 2

"Kristy?"

Trunks asked poking her in the shoulder. Kristy was fast asleep on her stomach on one of the extra beds they had hauled into Bras room the night before.

"Kristy?" he asked louder this time.

Still not a single budge. Trunks grew irritated.

"Kristy!!"

"Ack!" Kristy yelled as she fell out of the bed and hit the floor.

"Ow.."

She got up and rubbed her sore butt.

"What?!" she asked grumpily.

Trunks examined her. Her clothes were a bit wrinkled. Her hair was a mess. No wonder his sister never wanted to see him early in the morning.

"We have to get ready for school," he replied.

"Wha?"

Kristy had forgotten that she was in a different time.

"But I just got out a week ago," she said sadly.

Trunks frowned.

"Sorry. If I had things my way, school wouldn't even be a word."

Kristy smiled at that.

"If only things were perfect.."

Trunks let out a soft chuckle.

"We have to hurry or well be late."

Trunks had gotten up late as well. That happens when you have to get used to the idea that a girl from 80 years in the past is staying in your home. Know the feeling? Hey..why am I asking you? Anyways..

Kristy ran out the bathroom door, just finishing putting up her hair in a ponytail. Bra ran down the hall and passed her.

"Cmon!" she yelled back at Kristy, not wanting her to be late.

Running out the front door, Kristy grabbed her new backpack filled with school supplies that Bulma had provided. She threw the left strap over her left shoulder as she ran to the air car.

Bulma has one hand on the wheel and her elbow on the back of her seat, waiting for the others. Future Trunks ran to the car and jumped over the passenger door and into the seat. Bulma had succeeded in registering both Future Trunks and Kristy in school in less than a day. Even though she did have a little help..

"Ow!"

"Stop bumping into me, Kakkorot!"

"Sorry Vegeta."

"Tell me why were doing this again," Vegeta said.

"Because we can't have anyone suspecting Future Trunks and Kristy," Gohan replies.

"Yeow! Stupid desk," he mutters.

"Hurry up, I have better things to do," said a deep voice.

"Im moving as fast as I can Piccolo. Now where is that file cabinet?"

The lights go on. They see Piccolo standing near the switch.

"I was just about to do that," Gohan lies.

"Sure you were. Now just hurry up!"

Gohan goes through the files and pulls out a file. He looks around the library before opening it. Kristy's files had amazingly enough, been kept in the library for the last 80 years. Who would of thought? Gohan took the papers and put them in a separate empty file folder he had brought. He had also a fake file for Future Trunks that Bulma had made. Gohan turned to the others.

"Ok, now we just have to drop this off at the school."

"This is stupid! Why do humans need files anyways?" Vegeta yelled annoyed.

"Medical records, personal records, grade rec- "

"Forget I asked," Vegeta snapped, cutting Gohan off.

Kristy ran into the backseat where Morron, Pan, and Bra were already sitting. Trunks and Goten were close behind. Goten ran into the backseat first and plopped himself down on the seat. Trunks ran in and slammed the door.

"Hey," Trunks said as he seated himself.

Bulma's eyes checked in the rear view mirror to make sure she hadnt forgotten anyone. When she was done she turned the keys and pressed the ignition.

The kids were thrown back into their seats as the car reared then shot forward. The car left a long cloud of dust behind it. Within seconds, they were speeding down the streets of Satan City. They made a sharp turn, sending all of them lurching to the right. Another sharp turn. They all went to the left this time. This was a madwoman!

Bulma gritted her teeth when she saw there wasnt any more clear spaces in the school parking lot. She sped towards the school lawn.

"Mom, what are you doing?!?" Trunks yelled in horror from the backseat, seeing what she was about to do.

She sped for the lawn. The other kids on the lawn froze in shock as they saw her heading for them. They split into halves as she got closer.

Bulma turned the wheel completely to the left. They slowly braked as the aircar flew sideways across the lawn. When they nearly got to the end of the lawn, the car screeched to a stop. The kids in the car gaped at her. They finally shook it off and ran out of the car.

"Buh bye," she chirped, then drove off, like nothing had happened.

The kids just stared at her till she disappeared. Trunks hung his head.

"Sometimes I wonder if she has a drivers license," he muttered.

The girls sighed.

The group walked into the school. It was a huge indoor school with tall lockers lining both of its walls. There were other kids streaming down the halls. Goten took the paper that Bulma had handed Kristy which told her her schedule and locker number and such. Goten scanned it. He turned to Kristy.

"Cool! You're locker is near ours."

They had given Kristy a brief tour of the school as they headed to their lockers.

"Here it is," Goten said as they stood in front of locker 183. Kristy glanced at the paper Goten was holding a few times as she did the written code. The locker opened revealing the needed textbooks for the year. Goten walked 5 lockers up the hall and did the code. The locker opened and he got the required books for the next 2 periods.

Kristy looked back at her paper. Language Arts and Social Studies first. She took out the books for the classes. She pulled out her notebook and pencil then stuck her backpack into her locker.

She looked down at her paper, following the room numbers to room 28. She opened the glass and wooden door, revealing scattered students amongst rows of desk chairs. She walked in and looked around.

"Are you new here?" a feminine voice asked.

Kristy turned to the side to see a thin brown haired woman in a red business suit. Her hair was like Mary Tyler Moore or something.

"Ya," Kristy answered.

"Are you Kristy Briefs?"

KRISTY BREIFS?!?! Where the heck did she get that from? Trunks walked to beside Kristy. He turned to the teacher.

"Can I talk to my sis for a sec?"

Sis?!

The teacher nodded in response.

Trunks and Kristy turned around and walked a few feet away.

"What the heck is going on?" Kristy hissed when they were out of hearing range.

"The only way that we wouldnt have anyone suspecting you of what really happened, we had to lie and say that were related."

A head popped out between the two of them. The guy had short black spiked hair.

"Hey, what sup?"

"Not much," Trunks responded. "Meet my sis, Kristy."

"Hi," Kristy greeted with a smile.

The black haired guy smiled back.

"The names Shawn."

RRRRIIIINNNGGG!! The school bell rang loudly as class began.

All the students went to their seats as the teacher stood up. Kristy managed to find an empty seat in the center row. Pan, Trunks, and Bra were in this class as well. Kristy felt better knowing that she actually knew someone in the school.

"Today," the teacher began. "We will begin reading a book, but before we start Id like to introduce a new student. Kristy Briefs."

The other students turned around to look at Kristy. Kristy smiled a greeting.

"But she looks nothing like Trunks and Bra," one of the students observed.

Trunks chuckled nervously, "She takes more after Dad."

The student nodded her head in understanding.

Trunks let out a small sigh of relief.

"Kristy, why dont you tell us a little about yourself," the teacher went on.

"Um.." Kristy said, not knowing what to say.

"Like what?"

"What are your hobbies?"

Kristy thought about that for a moment. "I like to go on the computer, watch TV, and read."

"What type of books do you like to read?"

"Animorphs, stuff like that."

The class stared blankly at her. "What?" Kristy went pale as she realized that the series would be 80 years old and they would have no idea what it was.

"Did I say that? I meant Animals, ya, thats what I meant," she recovered nervously.

"Ooh."

The teacher smiled and picked up a book from her desk. "Today well be reading a book called Dragonball NG."

The class blinked at that.

"Whoops," the teacher said sheepishly. "Wrong book. Aw, here it is. Areanns Story."

Areann was sure one boring person. After 5 minutes of listening to a guy on a desert island just drawing in the sand trying to learn the secrets of the universe and the writing repeatedly getting washed away by the waves of the ocean, the students tuned her out. They tried, they really did try to listen to her but boredom took over.

Some of them whispered quietly, some did hand games, some drew, some slept, and others daydreamed.

Kristy leaned back in her chair, wishing class would be over soon. Trunks, whom was sitting one seat behind the one on her right, had his head and arms rested on his desk sleeping. Bra who was in the third row near the left wall, was putting on red nail polish. Pan was playing soccer with a bunched up piece of notebook paper.

Since this teacher taught both Language Arts and Social Studies, class was even longer. The teacher, Miss Gray, had decided to read the book both periods.

Shawn sat in front of her. He turned around in his seat to face Kristy. He didnt move, say anything, or do anything for that matter. He just had his arms crossed on the back of his chair, with his head rested in it, staring at her with his black eyes.

Kristy was beginning to feel really uncomfortable. Trunks came out of his sleep and looked at them and blinked.

"Hey Shawn," he said rubbing his eye with his fist. He put his hand down and looked a bit angry.

"Shawn."

Bra looked up from doing her nails. She looked at Kristy, then at Shawn, then back at Kristy. She could see Kristy was in a destressed state. She glared at Shawn-who was still unmoving-and threw her nail polish bottle at his head.

Shawn's eyes widened when the side of his head was hit with the little glass bottle. He looked down in the isle and picked it up. He then looked at Bra.

"What was that for?"

"What do you think?" she asked, still pissed.

Shawn tossed it back to her desk, "Throwing practice."

Bra caught her nail polish bottle. She rolled her eyes,"Ya, thats it.."

The bell finally rung. All of the students stampeded out of the classroom.

Kristy switched books with her locker. She closed the door then leaned against it, exhausted. Pan walked up to her with her own books.

"Hi," Kristy said.

Pan smiled, "Hows your day going?"

Kristy gave her a look that said what do you think? Pan laughed.

"I know what you mean. School is torture."

"You can say that again."

Pan smiled again.

"Why would you want me to do that?"

Kristy smiled.

"Just want to make you work harder."

"Oh no, not that!" Pan said playfully.

They both laughed as they walked down the hall.

After another 2 periods of boredom, mindless drivel and...more boredom; lunch began. Kristy walked to the cafeteria with Goten. They looked around the huge room for the others.

They found them at a table near the right wall. They edged through the isles of students.

"Hi," they all greeted when they finally made it. Goten sat down next to Trunks and Kristy sat herself next to Bra.

Goten turned to Trunks.

"Was your day as painful as ours?" he asked referring to him and Kristy who had had the last two periods together.

"Hmph. You dont know painful till you have Mr. Robertson for science," Trunks said.

"Do you have Mrs. Henderson for math?" Goten challenged back.

They went on doing this.

"Why are they fighting over who has the worst teachers?" Kristy whispered to Bra.

Bra shrugged. "Who knows? Theyre guys," she suggested in the same volume of sound.

"Heh. Got a point there."

After finishing eating [which took longer cause some of them were part Saiyans, and because of Trunks and Gotens dispute]. All of them walked down the hall talking. Kristy stopped. The others looked back at her.

"I forgot something. Ill be right back," she said as she headed to her locker a little ways back in the hall.

She opened her locker and got her notebook. If class was going to be like the last 4 periods then she was going to do something. She closed the locker and turned around to head back to the group.

A tall brown haired guy stood in her path. She just took a glance at him and started to walk around him. He moved in her path. She casually walked the other way around him. He got in her path once more. She looked up and made slits out of her eyes.

"Do you want something?"

"Ya. You can tell me if you're the new kid. So are you?"

"Ya, whats it to you?" she said suspiciously.

"I dont like new kids," he said towering over her.

"Well, thats your problem."

"Its about to be your problem in a minute," he threatened. He puffed up his chest and crossed his arms.

"Are you trying to intimidate me?" she asked skeptically; smirking. She shook her head and walked around him. He turned around and grabbed her arm.

"Dont get smart with me," he said tightening his grip.

A blur came at the side of his face. The guy was thrown across the room and crashed into a locker.

Goten stood where the guy had once been standing. Goten had clenched fists and glared coldly at Kristy's attacker. The guy was unconscious from the force of the hit and the collision. Goten looked at Kristy with a concerned look.

"Are you ok?"

"Ya," Kristy said as she gave a nod of her head. She turned to look at the big guy.

"Guess the schools welcoming committee will be in the hospital for awhile."

Goten and Kristy turned around and walked away to rejoin their friends.

The group tiredly walked into Capsule Corp. All of them but Trunks dropped onto the furniture. Pan laid on the coffee table with her arm hanging over the side with her eyes closed. Bra, Morron, and Future Trunks sat on the sofa. Goten and Kristy on the small sofa. They all sighed, sprawled across the furniture. Trunks came into the room with a tall homemade sandwich. He licked his lips then sat on the armchair. He looked up to see all of his friends pleading faces. He sighed sadly and cut (with thin ki lasers) the sandwich into 7 pieces. They divided it up then ate it.

Bra grabbed the remote control and turned on the tv. Some sort of soap opera was on. The others glared at her.

"What?" she asked innocently.

Pan grabbed the remote from her hands.

"But this is the episode where Jack wakes up!" she pleaded trying to grab it from Pans hands.

Pan turned on some action movie that was showing on tv.

"Were not going to watch some Rambo-look- alike!" Future Trunks grabbed the remote.

He changed the channel to some nature documentary. The others gagged. He lay back in the sofa with a content look on his face as he watched the scenery on the tv.

Goten grabbed it.

"My turn."

He changed it to some other movie. Kristy had no idea what it was. Even after a couple seconds, she couldnt tell what the plot was.

"NOT A WARRIORS TALE!!" the others moaned.

Kristy was confused.

"You've seen that movie 20 times!" Trunks yelled.

Goten glared at him. "And whats wrong with this movie?" he asked offensively.

"You've seen it too many times, thats whats wrong!"

Kristy grabbed the remote. "Hmm... Lets see.." she said flipping the channels.

"This cant be good.." Trunks said nervously.

Kristy looked at him. "Watch it or Ill turn on I Love Lucy," she warned.

Trunks smirked but didnt say anything.

"An all time classic," the voice over said. "TNT presents Tarzan."

It showed some clips of it.

Kristy gasped and smiled. "Tarzans on!"

The others looked at her and cocked an eyebrow.

"Dont worry, this is really good!" she reassured cheerfully.

"Im going to get some sodas and stuff before it starts," Goten said going to the kitchen.

Moments later he came back with an armload of sodas, chips, cookies, you name it. Pan got off the coffee table and squeezed onto the big sofa. They started eating and drinking when it started.

"Dangit," sniffed Morron, "Why is it that they only admit when they care about someone when theyre about to die?"

"I know!" Bra wailed. "Its not fair I tell you!"

The kids had been emotionally moved by the movie.

"Ive seen this movie 3 times and Im still wondering," Kristy admitted.

"I think its because it gives dramatic effect," Future Trunks added.

"True, but still..!" Bra said unsatisfied.

"You'll understand when you die."

"That movie was so sad!" Morron said.

"But it was pretty funny too," Trunks said, putting in his own 2 cents.

"The emotional content was overwhelming," Bra said.

"Hmph," they heard an all too familiar voice behind them.

Vegeta stepped out of the shadows.

"Pitiful. No way are you my kids."

The kids glared then threw their chip bags and other food articles at him. The Prince of Saiyans shielded himself with his arms as he was hit with a shower of snacks.
