Dragonball: Next Generation - Chapter 4

Kristy walked through the landscape. She figured she might as well explore her surroundings since she was probably going to be there for awhile. The ground was mostly dirt and the surroundings were basically cliffs and a few clusters of trees.

As Kristy walked along, she heard a high pitch cry above that sounded like a bird's. She looked up to find a huge gray flying reptile high above her. It was a pterodactyl! It bared its teeth and dove down.

Kristy shook then ran. The pterodactyl dove down at her with claws extended. Kristy dove to the ground with her hands over her head. The pterodactyl barely missed her. Kristy looked up from the ground to see the pterodactyl go up then wheel around to try again. Kristy sprang up and ran the other way.

The pterodactyl gained on her. Kristy went behind a cliff just as the pterodactyl's claws hit the side of it, scraping off pieces of rock. Kristy held her hands at her sides and breathed hard.

"Of all places he had to leave me, he had to leave me at Jurassic Park."

The pterodactyl wheeled around again. Kristy looked back and forth for any type of protection from the pterodactyl's attack. Kristy spotted a thin deep crack in the ground to her right. Kristy ran towards it.

The pterodactyl swooped down. Kristy ran as fast as she could. The pterodactyl extended its claws. Kristy began rolling. The pterodactyl just missed Kristy. Kristy fell into the crack and landed on her side. The pterodactyl clawed at the opening and tried to reach down inside. It squawked wildly as it tried again and again to scoop Kristy up. Soon, discouraged, the pterodactyl left.

It began to rain. A hand reached over the edge of the crack. Kristy pulled the rest of her body out and climbed out of the hole. She coughed up some water while on all fours. She was dripping with rainwater and soaked to the bone.

"This really sucks."

She hugged herself with her arms as she walked through the rain. She shivered uncontrollably as the cold wind blew. She looked up and saw a dark hole in the side of a cliff. She ran towards it.

She stopped at its entrance to see if there were any wild animals around. Heh. Like any animals would be dumb enough to be outside in this storm. She walked inside and sat down against the back wall. She curled herself into a ball and closed her eyes. She was freezing and her body ached but she easily managed to fall asleep. Was this a great first day of training or what?

She tiredly opened one of her eyes. Light shown through the opening of the cave. Kristy slanted her eyes because of the bright light in her tired eyes. Now the sun decided to come out. She got up and walked outside. The sun was coming up. Kristy wondered what time it was. Her watch was no more than a piece of junk now. It got crushed when she went through that wall the other day. Kristy shook her head not wanting to think about that.

She wondered what she was going to eat. It wasn't like there were any fast food places out here.

Kristy jumped down from a tree with a few pieces of fruit in her hands. She started eating them as she walked along. She would have traded it in for a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios without a second thought, but she didn't have that option. Finishing her last piece of fruit, she noticed a big waterfall pouring into a lake.

She walked to its edge and sat on a rock. She wondered if she should heat the water first but decided that she couldn't really do that because 1 she didn't have anything to make a fire with 2 it would take too long and 3 she didn't have anything to hold the water in. If it would make her sick then oh well. She knelt down next to the water and cupped some of it in her hands. She drank till she didn't want anymore and got up. She looked around and wondered what to do now that she had had breakfast.

"Hmmm... Maybe I need a bath..." She felt around herself.

She was kinda sweaty. And who knew when would be the last time she'd be able to have a bath. Kristy shrugged.

"Might as well.."

Kristy shedded off her orange outfit and saw that underneath was a weighted black tank top, under that a black sports bra, and over her underwear something like black shorts only cut like underwear. She had to admit that was kinda smart because if she ever wanted to take off her weighted tank top in front of anybody, nothing would show.

Wearing her black sports bra and black over underwear thingy, she walked into the water. She took a breath then dove down. She kicked her legs, maneuvering herself underwater.

Piccolo stood on top of the cliff with crossed arms watching Kristy. She had done well so far and Piccolo hoped that her good work would continue. Not only did he want his student to live because of her potential, but also because of something deep down inside him that wanted her to live for some other reason. A more important reason.. Something that mattered more than her training.. Piccolo couldn't put his finger on it. This troubled him, not knowing why he was feeling the way he was. He turned his attention back to Kristy who was swimming in the lake.

Kristy's head broke the surface. She swam back to shore and climbed out of the water. She looked around expecting to find a towel or something. No such luck.

"Guess I'll just have to dry out in the sun."

She laid, stretched out on a rock, soaking up some sun. Kristy had her arms behind her head enjoying the warmth. Too bad she didn't have sun block though. She let out a little sigh and wondered what her friends were doing.

RRRRIIIIINNNGGGG!!!

Trunks tried to ignore the loud ring of the phone.

RRRRIIIIINNNGGGG!!!

Trunks made a frown. He did not want to answer that phone.

RRRRIIIIINNNGGGG!!!

This was just too much. She had called 5 TIMES. In one day!

RRRRIIIIINNNGGGG!!!

Trunks walked to the phone, gritting his teeth and pulling at his hair.

RRRRIIIIINNNGGGG!!!

He picked it up, still pulling his hair with his other hand.

"WHAT?!" he yelled into the receiver, ready to go insane.

"Is Kristy there?" a worried feminine voice asked through the phone.

"FOR THE LAST TIME, CHICHI, KRISTY IS NOT HERE!!!"

He slammed down the phone and stomped back to the sofa.

Bulma walked into the living room.

"Who was that on the phone?" she asked curiously.

Trunks looked up at his mom. "I don't want to talk about it..."
