Dragonball: Next Generation - Chapter 6

Kristy dragged the male deer along the ground back to her usual eating area. She had taken a sharp piece of rock and stabbed it in the- Nevermind that part; it was a little gory but hey, a girl's got to eat you know.

Kristy pulled her kill along when she heard a twig snap. She stopped and surveyed the area with her eyes. Dog like creatures slowly came out of the shadows, crouched down and bearing long white teeth, the teeth of a predator.

They encircled her intending to steal her deer. And add her to the dinner list. That was not going to happen.

The biggest one jumped at her. Kristy grabbed its forepaw, turned around, and in one swift movement, threw the wolf against a near by tree. The wolf hit it upside down and with its back. It fell to the ground limply with a broken back. The other wolves backed away with their tails between their legs shocked that this seemingly weak prey killed their leader. They ran away into the woods quickly, forgetting about the deer and the girl. And they say wolves aren't smart.

Kristy was at her eating area now. A place on top of one of the cliffs so it would be harder for predators to reach her. Kristy examined the deer. She didn't know which part to eat. She was still kind of new to this whole Davy Crockett thing. Kristy shrugged and teared its side open. Kristy cringed a bit. Kristy took in a couple deep breaths. Just think of it as a bisecting project... Only you have to eat the project. Kristy looked around inside it. "Where's the meat? How do people do this?"

After a little live and learn, she finally figured out a bit about eating deer. She stayed away from most of the major body organs. She also learned what part of the deer was good meat. She also learned how to take it out and cook it. Who said this would be hard? Kristy smirked as her dinner was almost done cooking.

She finished off the last deer leg and threw it over the side of the cliff. Some animal would eat it sooner or later. Kristy watched the campfire for awhile. It's pretty much all you can do at this time of day. Kristy looked down at her clothes and lifted up the middle part. They were getting quite worn. Oh well. She wasn't complaining. She laid down to the side and curled up a bit. Within minutes she was asleep with the warmth of the fire beside her.

Piccolo hovered in the air with crossed arms and an unreadable face as he watched Kristy closely. Piccolo smirked.

"So. She has mastered the training already. Looks like she will begin the real training sooner than I thought."

The sun was up but Kristy was still fast asleep. Two feet landed in front of her face. Her eyes shot open and she sprang up to her feet. It was Piccolo!

"Piccolo!" she yelled happily. It had been about 3 months since she'd last seen another person. She could have jumped up and down for joy. Piccolo smirked.

"We will begin your training today. You have done well so far."

Kristy smiled. "So, what are we going to do?"

"Spar."

"Spar? What's that?"

"It's when you fight but it's only practice."

"Oooohhh. Like play fighting."

"Not exactly. You can actually get hurt sparring."

That sent Kristy's pupils to little dots. She had seen what type of stuff Piccolo can do. Her vs. him? Heh. Only if she had a death wish.

"What, are you scared?" he taunted.

"Heck yea! A person that wouldn't be, would either be insane or just plain stupid."

Piccolo smirked. "Is that so?"

"Yep. Also I want to live to be 14 you know."

Piccolo smirked again. "I won't kill you. The worst that can happen is that you disobey me and get messed up."

Kristy let out a little sigh.

"If you want to live you'll train under me."

"Then I guess we should get started," she said confidently.

They had gone to a deserted desert like region. Piccolo stood across from Kristy. Kristy was already in a battle stance, which she mimicked from her other fighting friends, trying to prepare herself for the worst. A wind blew, rustling Piccolo's cape. Kristy's brownish blond hair whipped against her face. They both didn't move. They both stared at each other in the eyes. Kristy looking into Piccolo's black eyes, and Piccolo looking into Kristy's light blue eyes.

Suddenly, Piccolo disappeared from Kristy's sight. Her eyes grew big. Oh no. She then whipped her body around as Piccolo threw a punch at her. His punch hit her crossed arms that formed an "x". Piccolo smirked. He then swung his left leg under her feet, causing her to fall. Kristy shot her foot up as she fell, aiming for Piccolo's chin. He moved his head to the side just in time.

Kristy hit her back to the ground painfully. She clenched her teeth to keep from yelling out in pain. Piccolo's hand made a small ball of yellow ki around it. He extended his hand and shot a weak yellow blast at her.

Kristy rolled out of the way just in time. Kristy sprang up and jumped at Piccolo. She began punching his crossed arms rapidly. She learns fast.. Piccolo lips formed a small smile that resembled a smirk. He had missed teaching students how to fight. And he was teaching a fighter with great potential. At this rate, she's going to master training faster then my other students.. Maybe she'll even surpass them..

Gohan sat at his computer typing away. He had to finish a company report by the next morning. He leaned forward in his chair staring at the screen as his fingers flew across the keyboard. Videl looked over his shoulder.

"Where did you learn to type so fast?" she teased.

Gohan smiled. "I have no idea."

Videl smiled again. "I'm sure you don't."

Gohan turned back to his computer and continued with his work. "What's for dinner?"

"Roast beef."

"I'll be there at six."

"Ok." And with that Videl exited the office.

Gohan was left in silence again save the sound of the keys he was pressing. Just when he thought there would be no further interruptions there came loud footsteps. Gohan turned around in his chair and cocked an eyebrow. The sound was coming from outside the open door. He got up and stuck his head out the door looking down the hall. Two blurs passed him.

"Hurry up!" one called to the other. "Dad isn't very patient, ya know!"

"I'm moving as fast as I can! If Vegeta is going to let us use the gravity room, then he should at least give us 2 minutes to get ready!"

"Pan, sometimes I wonder if you're just an average girl. Saiyans can get ready in under that time period!"

"Forgive me for having to put lipstick on," Pan said sarcastically.

"Both of you quit it and get going," Gohan yelled after them. He smiled and shook his head while he sat down again to his work.

Kristy jumped at Piccolo. Piccolo swatted her away with the back of his right hand. She flew through the air to the ground and skidded. She slowly forced herself to get up.

The two had been sparring for hours and Kristy was getting quite beaten up. She had enough scratches and bruises to last her for awhile. Then again, she did a bit of damage to Piccolo. Not much though but he had his share of scratches and bruises.

Piccolo rubbed his cheek with the back of his fist, against a new scratch that was beginning to bleed. He wore a scowl. Kristy tried to catch her breath and watched Piccolo to see if he would attack.

"What are you standing there for?" he yelled at her. "Attack or be attacked!"

Kristy heaved a few more breaths and nodded. She wondered if getting beat up was a way of getting stronger. Maybe Kristy put her attention back to sparring. She had to attack him without getting her butt whooped yet again that day.

Kristy crouched down into a battle stance. Her eyes were unreadable as not to give away anything to her opponent. Kristy ran at him screaming. Piccolo narrowed his eyes and got ready. When she was right in front of him, he threw a punch. To his surprise, she slid between his legs and stood up again behind him. He turned around to react but she already threw a high kick to the center of his chest. The hit knocked him away from Kristy. He then pointed to fingers forward. His fingers glowed red and a ray headed for Kristy. The blast landed on the inside of her legs, nearly missing her right foot. She stared down at the hole it made in awe.

When she looked up, Piccolo rammed her in the stomach, sending her into the side of a cliff. Her arms and legs were spread out as she hung from the cliff wall in the body shaped crater she had made. She clenched her teeth and struggled to move her left arm out of the crater. When it was loose, she did her right arm. Then she tore out her legs and fell to the ground. She stood up holding her left shoulder that had a deep gash in it. She slowly walked forward in an awkward way.

Piccolo crossed his arms signaling that she get ready. Kristy reluctantly took her right hand from her shoulder and got into a fighting stance. Piccolo eyed the deep gash.

"That will be enough training for today," Piccolo said.

Kristy felt relieved and let out a small sigh. This proved to be painful and clutched her shoulder and gritted her teeth.

"Follow me," he instructed, turning around. Kristy watched him and slowly followed.

Kristy waited on a rock as instructed. She looked through the line of trees for a sign of her teacher. Stepping out of the shadows, Piccolo walked towards her with a big leaf in his hand. As he got closer, she noticed some yellow stuff on it.

"What's that?" she asked.

"You don't want to know," he said simply. "All you need to know is that it's a way to heal that gash of yours."

He got down next to her and held the leaf just above her shoulder.

"Just don't scream."

He then stuck the leaf on her gash. Her eyes widened as the pain seared through her skin.

"Aahh!"

She turned her head the other way and gritted her teeth. The pain went down a little as her skin got used to it. Piccolo tied the leaf around her shoulder. He got up and Kristy pressed the leaf down and gritted her teeth slightly. Piccolo crossed his arms.

"It will disappear in a few days. For now, you may relax. Training will start again tomorrow."

He turned around and began to walk away.

"Hey!" Kristy called after him. "Where are you going?"

"Somewhere."

"You're sure one mysterious guy. All I know about you is that your name is Piccolo, you're an alien from outer space, and you're some sort of super martial artist. How much are you not telling me here?"

Piccolo crossed his arms and smirked.

"More than you know."

"Hey, I got an idea, how 'bout we get to know each other better?" she suggested.

Piccolo was a bit surprised by that. Not many people wanted to know more about him. Heck, probably no one did. It probably wouldn't hurt to tell her a little.. I doubt she's a blabbermouth, anyways.

It was nighttime and they were sitting around the campfire talking about themselves.

"Oh my gosh!" Kristy said laughing. "They really did that?" Kristy imagined the scene where Goku and Vegeta are falling to the ground. Gohan has his arms wide-open and yelling "Otosan!" Then both of them have a high speed crash behind the group.

"Poor Gohan, he just wanted a hug!" She burst into laughter again. She calmed down a bit after a moment.

"Did you have any fighting experience before now?" Piccolo asked curiously. Kristy thought about that for a minute.

"If you count when I beat up this guy for talking trash about my guinea pig, ya."

Piccolo laughed at this. "You beat up someone for insulting an over grown rat?"

"I just may have to again," Kristy countered coolly.

Piccolo smirked.

"What do you do in your spare time?" Kristy asked, changing the subject.

"Train and meditate."

Kristy lifted an eyebrow and looked questionably at him. "Is that all you do?"

"Yes."

"I can't believe you," Kristy said shaking her head.

"Hmph. It isn't like you have a social life either."

"You don't have a life, period," Kristy shot back with a smirk. She wasn't really bothered by his remark.

Piccolo smirked, not offended by this. Kristy smirked.

"Nameks aren't very social are they?"

"Actually, they're more the opposite. I just happen to be the exception."

"Aaww, another exception in a race. Nice to meet you," she said with a smile.

Piccolo smirked.

"Suppose you are. You're the only female I know of who isn't either insane or weird."

Kristy smiled. "I'll take that as a compliment. But I wouldn't tell the others you said that if I were you."

"I intend to live long enough to fight my next battle."

Kristy smiled again. Piccolo didn't have much of a sense of humor but it was still there. Guess he didn't like to really show it. Kristy leaned back and yawned.

"There's one thing that would make this night complete"

"What's that?"

"A pizza. Got a phone?"
