Dragonball: Next Generation - Chapter 9

Trunks flew through the air at normal speed. He glanced out of the corner of his eye. His future self was close behind, looking ahead toward their destination. Trunks looked out to his right. Vegeta was flying with them, carrying Trunks' sister that wore the usual red dress and hair band. Flying in a strange little pod, they flew towards the Tentakachi Bodokai tournament that was being held.

Trunks looked ahead again and was shocked to see a flying air car right in his path. He swerved with his high speed but lost control. Hurling insanely, he plummeted to the ground. Instead of crashing head - first in concrete he tore through the cloth roof of a carnival booth and fell to the ground with a huge crash.

Trunks shook his head then opened his eyes to find himself sprawled across a huge pile of stuffed animals. He stood up and inspected himself. Nothing was damaged. His left hand opened pulled the collar of his gi open and pulled out a small blue stuffed hippo that had fallen in. He looked through the hole in the roof and glared at the 20-year-old man in the air car that had caused his fall.

"Hey kid!" the man called down. "Watch where you're going! You could have wrecked my bumper!"

Trunks' eyes burned then smirked sinisterly. He brought the arm that was holding the miniature stuffed hippo back like a baseball player would a baseball and pitched it up towards the man. The toy shot through the air...then through car's engine. The car went tumbling toward the ground in the distance.

"Wwwwhhhhyyyy yyyyoooouuuu lllliiiiiiitttttttttleee-"

There was a loud crash before the man could finish his sentence. Trunks turned around still smirking. He was met with a shocked crowd of people staring at him. He looked about them innocently.

"What?"

Most of the Z gang waited in an area on the large island where the tournament would be held, waiting for the others to arrive.

Vegeta, Trunks, Future Trunks landed in front of them. Vegeta set Bra down on the ground while Goku walked up to him. "Long time no see!" he said in his usual happy-Saiyan way.

Vegeta crossed his arms. "Hmph."

Goku didn't seem to notice Vegeta's normal bad mood.

"So, are you ready for the tournament?"

"Of course I'm ready, Kakkarot. The Prince of Saiyans is always ready for a fight."

Goku chuckled. "Glad to hear that. I'm looking forward to a challenge."

The blue haired teenager shuffled through the contents of her red purse. The future counterpart of her brother looked over in her direction.

"Bra, what are you doing?"

Bra was seemingly too absorbed in her search to pay of any attention to him. Seeing he had nothing else better to do, he approached her and looked over her shoulder.

"Now where is that lipstick..." she mumbled continuing to move objects around her purse loudly.

"Why do you need lipstick?" Future Trunks inquired.

He then lifted his eyes to his sister's.

"Aren't you wearing some already??"

Looking at his confused look, she rolled her eyes continuing the search of the lost lipstick.

"Well, of COURSE I have some on."

As a response to the answer he crashed forward and in the same motion let out a sigh.

"A ha! Found it!" Bra beamed as she triumphantly held up the small container.

Pan suddenly stood next to Bra.

"Hey, do you have some chap - stick?"

Bra immediately shuffled through her purse again now in search of the chap - stick. Still on the ground, Future Trunks let out another sigh.

Trunks walked over to Goten. His friend had his hand behind his head, looking around like something was supposed to be there but wasn't.

"What is it?" Trunks inquired.

"I thought she was going to be here.." he mumbled as he continued to look from one direction to another.

"Who do you mean by 'she'?"

Trunks was thinking it was Goten's new girlfriend since he always seemed to have one. For the first time since Trunks had arrived, Goten looked him in the eye.

"Who do you think? Kristy of course."

"Ohh."

"Are you telling me you forgot already?"

"Of course not. I just didn't know whom you referring to. For a second I thought you were talking about Paris."

Goten frowned at the last word. He and Paris had broken up awhile back but he didn't like it being brought up. He had had a few girlfriends since then but every date he had ever had in his entire life had ended with him girlfriend-less once more. Trunks then realized the mistake he had made.

"Sorry."

"It's okay.."

Goten said looking off ahead. He then looked back at Trunks.

"It wasn't meant to be anyways."

Trunks smiled a little.

"Yeah, you'll find someone else."

Goten nodded and looked off again.

"Then again, I'm kinda in the mood to be women-free today."

"Okay," Trunks grinned, "Then how about we go dump my sister in a ditch?"

"...Which one?" Trunks slapped his forehead and shook it. "Oh, I don't know," he continued sarcastically, "How about both?"

Both of them laughed at the idea.

"Hello Krillen," Goku grinned as he approached his shortened friend.

"Hello Gok-" Krillen suddenly spun around from his conversation with Goku.

"Hey, do you feel that?" he asked looking at the appearing to be empty sky. Goku looked up also with an expression of dead seriousness.

"Yeah."

"One seems familiar but the other is one that has seemed to be growing stronger recently," Tenshinhan said walking up next to the Saiyan.

He turned his head to Goku.

"Hmph," Vegeta retorted as he walked up between the two with his arms crossed over his chest.

"Whoever it is they're no threat."

Ignoring Vegeta, the tricelops turned to Goku.

"Do you know who it is?"

"I don't know but I wish I did..." he admitted.

"Well, it looks like we'll be finding out soon enough," Gohan responded as two bright dots appeared in the light blue sky.

The entire group fell silent as they all watched the two balls of flames grow larger in their vision. After a moment they could see two people, one larger than the other, surrounded in white auras. The Z warriors couldn't see either person clearly because their auras prevented them to.

"Oh!" Pan suddenly shouted from the back of the group. "I know who they are!"

Before anyone could ask, the sounds of boots clicking as it hit concrete block and auras fading away were heard. All eyes focused to their west where, under the shadow of a thin tree, on a figure half-kneeling there. The person, it, then stood up straight. The thing the group noticed was its eyes. Its eyes were diamond-shaped under a brow lowered in some sort of determination.

The figure approached with its shoulders and fists swaying slightly with the movement. Then light hit it. The light began at its hair that glimmered in the sun then the rest of the figure was quickly revealed as two black-booted feet stepped out and stood there.

Just then, two feet landed vaguely behind them. In an unorganized fashion they lifted and turned their heads to find the sound's source. There, cape dancing in the wind, stood on the roof of a long traditional-looking building was the cross-armed, familiar Namekian known as Piccolo staring down at them.

"Hey, Piccolo!" Goku yelled up, waving.

Still cross-armed, the green man jumped down from the roof's ledge before the Saiyan in front of his friends.

"Hello Son," he responded, using Goku's last name instead of his first like he always did.

"I told you I knew who they were!" Pan announced as if accusing someone that had denied her truth handling skills. Pratically forgetting what she had just said she waved and approached the other newly arrival saying, "Hey Kristy, what's up!"

"TENTAKACHI BODOKAI CONTESTANTS," a loud voice thundered over the PA system. "PLEASE REPORT TO THE FIGHTING RING IN FIFTEEN MINUTES."

"Fifteen minutes?!" Pan screamed.

Clutching her skull with both hands she turned forward and yelled, "RRRRUUUNNN!!!!!!"
