Fan Fiction Policy

Yeah, it's that time again. The rules were simple before because we didn't have a lot of submitions, but now they are starting to come in, so bigger and better rules are called for, understand so far? Good.

Spelling

English

*Make sure you looked over your fic for typo's. It's okay if you missed one or two, for they will be corrected upon receiving, but if I get a whole page of ebonics (unless it was meant to be that way) I'm not even going to bother with it.

*I have a tendancy to spell things like the british do sometimes, such as: Theater (american) vs. Theatre (british). That's okay if you are the same way unless it affects the meaning of the word in the context.

Japanese

*All japanese words that are mispelled will be corrected.

*Any japanese sentence's that are typed incorrectly will be fixed. Japanese sentence's aren't arranged like English sentence's.

Names

There are many ways to spell names in Dragonball Z, because of the limited consonants in the Japanese language, some names translated into English can have different spellings. I'm letting everyone know what I will accept, what annoys me and what I'll kill you for.

*Saiyan - I'm irritated by this spelling simply because it's how FUNimation spells it and FUNimation sucks. May my fansubs forever reign supreme. EIEN NI NIHONJO! But it is accepted >:P

*Saiya-jin - Definately accepted.

*Saiyjin - Also accepted. This is how I prefer to spell it. I just dropped the "a" and didn't leave a space between "jin".

*Seyjin - Chotto! If I see this, I'll either correct it or trash the fic. That's like spelling "Human" as "Humon".

*Sayin - Hell, no. There's gotta be a japanese version of Hooked-on-Phonics somewhere! o_o` Where do you people come up with these spellings!?!

*Namek - The most prefered choice of spelling by all of us here at The Piccolo Project. It's simple, short and no extra letters stuck in there to make it look stupid.

*Nameck - WHAT the HELL!?! THIS is how FUNimation spells it. WHICH IS STUPID!!! Nam-eck...come on...I hate it when a company takes something that's good and tries to Americanize it. I'M NOT ACCEPTING IT!! MUWHAHAHA!!!

*Namic - :::growl::: Okay, I've seen this spelling on my subtitled japanses episodes. But only a few times for a breif moment. I think this spelling is inane and ridiculous, so I'm not accepting it either. Looks like everyone's stuck with the "Namek" spelling.

*Namik - I'll find out where you live and hunt you down for this one.

*Namick - I'll slaughter your family

Character Names

*Vegeta - I prefer to spell it this way, since it's the best translated name that FUNimation has ever done. Easy for those that don't know anything about the japanese language to pronounce and it's simple.

*Vegita - Eh...I'll accept it, but it's annoying. Every time I see it I want to pronounce it "Veh-jit-uh".

*Bejita - Yup, I'll accept this. In the japanese language the the consonant "v" doesn't exist, so it's pronounced like this and so if you were to translate it to english from what you hear, you would end up with the "B".

*Vejita - :::growl::: I'll think about it.

*Bejeta - NO

*Vageta - NO! NO! NO!

*Vagita - NOOOOO!!!!!! We ALL know what word THAT looks like!

*Piccolo - Definately yes!

*Pikkoro - Sure, why not, it's japanese, although I've never seen anyone spell it like that before.

*Picolo - No, for some reason I hate this spelling.

*Pickolo - NO

*Pikkilo - NO, DAMMIT!

*Piccalo - No, again!

The list could go on forever.

*Goku - Short and simple. Another good FUNimation trans.

*Son Goku - Yep.

*Gokou - Yes, the Great Master Toriyama spells it this way.

*Gokku - Uh...no.

*Gokoo - What do you people smoke!?

*Krillin - I spell it this way, just because it's easy.

*Kulilin - Also accepted, in the anime it's spelled this way.

*Kuririn - Accepted. In my Dragonball Z manga it is spelled this way, opposed to the anime spelling.

*Kryllin - Um...I'll have to say no. Everytime I see this I want to say it as "Cry-lyn".

*Krillyn - Heh...this bothers me.

*Kryllyn - NO!

*Son Gohan/Gohan - There shouldn't be anyone that spells it any other way, unless you're completely demented.

*Kami/Kami-sama - How it's spelled in japanese. This is the TRUE spelling I might add and how I spell it. For those who spell it Kame...hate to break it to you, but that's japanese for tortoise/turtle.

*Master Roshi/Muten Roshi/Kame-sennin - All of these are acceptable.

*Bulma/Buruma - Good to go.

*Yamcha/Yaumcha/Yamacha/Yaumacha - The last one bothers me

*Tenshinhan/Ten - :::growl::: Okay, okay. I'll accept Tien even though I really don't like it

*Chiaotzu - This is how I prefer to spell it for some reason. Perhaps it's because it's phonetically correct. If I see "Chowsue", thing's won't go well for you.

*King Kai/Kaio-sama - Both are accepted and no other way.

Any other names are questionable at my convenience.

Now...after you've read all of this (and I'm sure you had fun doing it) make sure you read the rest of my rambling!

*Hey! I have WinZip, so you can send me compressed fanfic files!

*The Piccolo Project does accept in-progress Epic's, being that they are truly in-progress and not a five-chapter-let's-wait-a-year-to-write-more deal.

*Fanfiction can have other character's in it besides Namek's. It doesn't have to be a strictly Piccolo fic either. I find in my fics I inadvertantly team up Vegeta and Piccolo a lot since I think they make a good team.

*Mr. Popo is an acception. Fics can be based soley on him since he is Kami's aid. You may wonder why I even mentioned Mr. Popo. I did this only because I found that Mistara and myself have taken a rather fond shine to him. (fetish? Um...)

*I truly detest Pokemon.

*Don't send me crap...in other words, I actually like good fiction! Wow, I sure do have taste...

*Do not send your fics to The Piccolo Project's hotmail account. It's much easier if you send them directly to me to immediately be saved inside the website account.

Have you read everything carefully? Think you can handle all of this? Are you intimidated yet? I'm really not as bad as I sound (I'm usually a lot worse) so if you're a brave, daring soul like the other people that have their stories up, then go ahead and send it to:

Lordess Vegeta

The worst that could happen is getting an e-mail back saying your fic didn't comply with the rules correct? Then all you'd have to do is go back, find what you did wrong and re-submit...and if you keep re-submitting and you get 500 hundred e-mails back saying that your fic didn't comply with the rules...it's a safe bet that it needs mass improvement.

Ahh...subarashii!

Ja ne,
Lordess
