Gohan's Testament
Prologue~
Ok, I know this isn't really true-to-form. Gohan goes to fight Frieza before he leaves with Bulma in the ship and yadda, yadda...but that's a small detail. This story is a little on the warm and fuzzy side--and really not like me at all, but I hope you like it anyway.
Bulma and Gohan entered Goku's ship hurriedly. It seemed as if the entire planet was already crumbling beneath their feet.
"What did Goku want us to do?" Bulma asked.
"Just to get out of here as soon as possible, and we'd better hurry. They'll start fighting again any minute now--and with all that energy flying around...."
"I get the idea" Bulma went over to the ship's controls and began trying to figure the space traveler out while Gohan picked up Piccolo's now-limp body and proceeded to take him into a closed part of the ship.
"Poor kid...." Bulma thought, then put her attentions back to the ship, knowing they didn't have a moment to spare.
By the time Gohan got the Namek warrior into the next room he was sobbing. Why was it that he had to die again? Gohan was really alone this time...Krillin, Yamcha, Tien, Chatzou, Vegeta, Dende, Guru, and Piccolo....all gone. Who know what had happened to his father, if he would survive this fight with Freeza, or even if he DID win...how he would get off Namek before it exploded. The young, and only remaining, Saiya-jin laid his mentor down on a cot and covered him with a soft blanket. Gohan looked down at his armor in disgust, and tore off the Saiya-jin garment. He looked down at Piccolo and wondered whether or not he was at peace. To die and be brought back, only to live for such a short time.............Gohan didn't have much time to consider that though as he was thrust down to the floor with the spaceship's take off.
"I guess Bulma figured the ship out...." Gohan sighed inwardly and shrunk back into a corner, weary and defeated. Sobs choked him, the boy's thoughts and memories pierced with both absolute hatred and fear. Here was Piccolo--his mentor, companion, ally, and friend dead once again because of him. It wasn't fair....it wasn't right. What had he always said? That fighting wouldn't be fair....even though that was true, nothing Piccolo had taught Gohan could have prepared him for this. They had worked so hard to get the Namekian dragonballs to wish him back and now there couldn't be anymore wishes. With Piccolo gone, Kami would die as well and there wouldn't be any Earthen balls....and Guru was already dead, so nobody from what remained of planet Namek would help. Was it truly hopeless? It seemed to be.......but then, Piccolo's life in itself seemed hopeless from the very beginning. Gohan stood, wiping the tears from his face and went to Piccolo's side.
"You wouldn't be afraid now--would you Mr. Piccolo? Yo...you'd say something like Daddy would come through, wouldn't you? BUT IT'S NOT THAT WAY! YOU'RE NOT RIGHT! IF YOU WOULD OF BEEN RIGHT YOU WOULD BE ALIVE RIGHT NOW! IT DOESN'T MATTER IF DAD WINS CAUSE YOU'LL STILL BE DEAD!" the little warrior fell and collapsed under the weight of his own tears once again. Piccolo-san.....he still wouldn't be weak now, not at a time like this--Gohan definitely knew that. He inhaled deeply, and stood up again.
"Piccolo Daimaou Jr. aged...something, older than me. The bravest fighter in the universe, even more than my dad--even though he might disagree. He was my friend and he taught me how to be strong, I wouldn't even be here now if it wasn't for him...and I don't know if I want to be here now that you're gone again, this time for good. I hope King Kai is good to you, I know you don't like him that much though, but he's Dad's friend so he can't be all that bad. I hope you don't forget me up there in Heaven...I know you're going to Heaven---you're too nice of a person." Gohan actually laughed a little here. "Yeah, you're really nice. Anyway, I hope you don't forget me, because I won't forget you. And when we get back we'll have a real funeral for you and everybody'll come...everybody that's still alive anyway. Because the Earth would probably be destoryed without you, ya know? If you weren't there when Vegeta and Nappa were fighting us...Krillin would've probably ran away, and I would'nt even of been there to fight in the first place. I...I guess what I'm trying to say is---I really love you Piccolo, you're like my Dad and everything...and there's not a lot of people that could compare with him, ya know?" Gohan sighed, he couldn't really think of anything more he could say to his mentor. "I...really don't know what else to do now....I know to be strong, to keep fighting....but there's nothing to fight...."
"Grrrrrrr.....how about shutting up?"
Gohan looked down at Piccolo. He had spoke!
"You're not dead????" Gohan exclaimed.
"I'll give you 3 guesses....I'm not dead but I'm certainly not in a good mood" was Piccolo's reply.
"How long have you been listening?"
"Too long, go and let me sleep...your screechy human voice bothers me."
"Aw, Mr. Piccolo...." Gohan threw his arms around the irate Namek. Piccolo flinched, not accustumed to the show of affection and being in severe pain, but allowed Gohan this sign of affection and fondness. The little Saiya-jin laughed brightly, and another day came to a close in the Dragon Ball universe.
