Roy and Jason went to Bloomington, IN. Roy was very familiar with the area because he attended Indiana University for two years. That made directions easy but like always, there was drama involved.
Within an hour of the contest scheduled to start, Roy and Jason stopped at a gas station. Well, when trying to leave…Roy backed out of his parking spot and tried to turn around, but when trying to turn the car he ran over a curb. No problem, he would just roll forward, but after that didn’t work he decided to look at the problem. Stepping out of the vehicle showed a horrible sight. Roy had somehow backup up and in doing so….wedged a concrete marking pole in between the plastic bumper and the rear drivers side tire. The bumper was literally folded over and completely wedged the pole in place. Backing up at five miles an hour can be dangerous in any instance.
After all the other drama, "Floss 'N Gloss" arived to the show five minutes before the starting time for the competition. That shows what some dedication to the lifestyle and a little engine speed helps to stay focused on the competitions. Knowing that Roy and Jason have combined to win a trophy at every competion this year and even dating back to last year.
Jason has decided to pull out of the competition cicuit for a couple of shows. He was customizing his 1998 Sonoma for the more traditional car show curcuits next year. He is joining a few members who want to trick out the rides to compete in the different style shows next year. Jason has added a billet gill to the current customizations on the vehicle. Euros, a roll pan, and dropping the truck are on schedule for the near future.
Getting to the show was the least of the worries when your competing against SUV's with tons of air space. Roy was competing against indivuduals with six twelves, another with four fifteens, and a third with six fifteens. At the end of the show Roy still walked around proudly after winning second place.
The first round resulted in a score of 145.8 DB's. That was tied for first in class three and tied for second overall.
The second round netted a score of 146 DB's, but the score was nullified due to a "generator failure". Kind of funny since the other score was left up. But on the the retry, Roy netted another 145.8 score. That score was highest overall at that point, but ended up being second in class three.
Winning second place and two first place finishes in the last three competitions is a confidence booster going into the next competition.
Here's what a concrete pole can do to the back end of a camaro. Believe me. Concrete wins over fiberglass....EVERYTIME! *snicker*
