May 2001 Great Sounds Car Audio Contest

Results from the May 2001 JL Audio Sponsored competition:

Leading up to the competition was another stressed out time. William's work schedule kept him from competing, so FNG was already down one competitor. Then Jason got zero guage wiring the day before the competition. Roy, Jason and Will got the power wire installed, but we needed another couple terminals for the zero ground wire. That meant that his power would be drained alittle extra, but when you heard the air pressure when the power is up.....WOW!
For more information about Jay's vehicle and its set-up, please take a look at Venom's Page. With the wiring, it meant that Venom would be alittle wounded, but the next competition should show the true output of the system.
Roy (President) got four guage wiring, new fuse blocks and fuses, and clear corners, but with the limited time, they had to put "Camelion" on hold. See the current and future of "Camelion"Here.

Jason had the second highest DB reading in his division with a score of 143.0 DB, yet because of the power being drained he ended up with 4th place. And fourth is the lowest placing for Venom in any competition and should be the lowest for some time. Jay is adding a second battery, a relay, and adding the proper ground wires for his system to maximize the speaker and power performance.
Roy had the fourth highest score of 142.9 DB, in his division, without making easy adjustments to his system. Even with the fourth highest score, Camelion ended up with another 5th place finish. Look for much stronger scores and finishes in the near future.
Nick Reed, who is the new member of the club moved the placement of his speaker box and dropped his output to 136.6, yet was able to yield the 7th highest score, but ended up with 8th place in the Super Street 1-2 No Wall division. Some minor tweaking will be made during this season to his set up as well, so look for higher scores and finishes.

New competitors that weren't remembered from either of last year show. It looks like the audio field has continued to survive and constantly evolve.
