St. Patrick Day 2001
"Floss 'N Gloss" was quite busy during the days leading up to St. Patrick Day 2001 and the day of March 17th in Muncie, Indiana. It all started about 2 weeks prior. Going to numberous party shops to accumulate all of the necessary items to dress up the outside and inside of the vehicle to be used in the parade(1995 Chevy Camaro).
Then on the day of the parde at 6am, Roy got off work after working the graveyard shift. He went out to a few stores to get a few last minute items to put on the car.
After sitting around the house for a few hours and doing some quick house work, Roy left at 9am to wash it up. You have to have it looking good.
After cleaning "Camelion" up, he picked up Jay and they went out for some breakfast. After finishing up breakfast they went to the parade location at 10am.
After getting the sequence and the number of the section where FNG would be in order, we sat around for a few minutes, then decided that the generous candy donation by Capt. Charles Hensley of the MPD, the amount could be added to, in order to make sure its enough for every one who asked at the parade.
That meant another trip and a few errunds later and FNG returned to the parade location at 11am for the prejudging.
When FNG arrived back, they started to execute all of the plans that had previously been laid out. And periodically played bag pipe music at over 145 db.
At 12(noon) the parade was ready to start. We were right behind a stage-coach that was being pulled by a Truck. We had a great seat. They stopped 2-3 times and had a shoot out. That was pretty exciting to watch. Inbetween their shows, FNG's Camelion rolled official bag pipe music at 145DB that was hand picked from 5 CD's.
Jason was hanging out of "Camelion" tossing candy to virtually every one who asked or had a hand out. We had to dig through the car at the end to find any pieces that had fallen on the seats or floor of the car.
The judges passed on a few vehicles that FNG thought to be well planned and instead decided to award "Best of Show" to the Muncie's Sanitation Department which had three trash trucks with decals on the sides of them and a guy dressed in a leprecon uniform. Who-hoo!!!
But all in all the day was fun. As we rolled though the parade Roy was able to snap some pictures of the event, so check them out below.
